Good afternoon, bluelighters! I wasn't sure where to post this....there are SO many different forum areas on this site. Anyway, this morning I tried about 1 gram of 15x kratom powder with my coffee and the effect was great! It felt just like I had taken a pain med and it has lasted well, from an analgesic standpoint as well as overall mood. I also purchased some Maeng Da crushed leaf and I was looking for advice on how to make the most tolerable tea from it. I just swallowed the extract and let me tell you, it tasted like PURE SHIT! Reminds me of mushrooms, and the way I dealt with those was crushing them in peanut butter and eating them with crackers. Anyway, if any of you good people have any recommendations, I sure would appreciate it, because I believe that kratom is going to be of great benefit to my pain management regimen.

Blessings and peace to all,

C

if it tastes like shit then why would u want to make it into a tea? The way I take my kratom is parachute. I'll take maybe 2 pieces of toilet paper squares, take about 1/4th of a gram or so powder and place in middle of the TP, ball it up, gently tear off the extra paper, place it on the backish of my tongue with the ball end facing towards the front of my mouth and bottoms up with whatever liquid i have. i do this till i reach what i call 'feel good', takes me roughly 3-4 'parachutes'. the only bad taste i might taste is i might burp and it tasting like kratom, other then that pure bliss!

I've been making tea.. Don't expect it to taste good.
It's a lil bit nasty, but honestly there are much worse things.
I just put about 1/2 teaspoon into 1/2 cup of hot water, stir it up and chug it.
I do it that way cause I don't want to waste any.

i don't think there's anything that tastes worse than kratom tea. San pedro tea is comparable in horribleness.

i prefer to put it in gel caps, tea has never worked well for me, not to mention it tastes awful. Swallowing 20 gel caps isn't great either though.

Good morning bluelighters/greenlighters!

I have a stubborn streak which made me absolutely determined to find a way to make a kratom tea that was palatable. We went camping up at our getaway cabin this weekend and I just simmered the ounce of maeng-da leaf in a coffee pot with fresh lemon slices, sugar, and some powdered lemonade mix. After about an hour, I strained the sludge out and what I got was actually pretty tasty. It provided a nice mellow feeling similar to having a percocet or two. My companion, who also has a chronic pain condition and a desire for an opiate buzz enjoyed it as well. We sipped it for a couple of days. I also found that dropping a couple of chunks of resin into my morning coffee works pretty well. I don't know, something about me prefers liquid as my ROA, ever since I was prescribed liquid Lortab after a surgery years ago. Now that was some good shit:)

Thanks for the advice, peace and blessings to all.

tea? gross. just buy some capsules and use a pen or something to shove .6-.7 in a 00 capsule. take them that way...much less painful and more effective.

I prefer tea as well, only way to get down 20g without to much pain.

Also, the tea must be cold, with ice. Warm Kratom tea is so horrible, the smell gets in your nose and makes you sick that way.
Ice cold is way better.

I use a filter coffee plunger jug, add boiled water, leave it for 30 min and then as long as needed in the fridge to get cold, plunger/filter it and its ready to drink with ice.
Works well

an ounce is an insane amount of MD. In caps i generally need 4-6 grams. Either your tolerance is huge or as i suspect, tea is just really weak.

Truthfully, it was a big-ass pot, like one of those big urns of coffee you see in convenience stores, and the two of us did drink it all weekend. The little chunk of resin in my coffee packed quite a punch, though, and it lasted a while, which I appreciate. I am hoping to keep my tolerance where it is, which means resisting the temptation to sip it every chance I get.

Thanks for the feedback, stay safe all!

I brew a thermos of tea and take it to work with me.
Take a chug every 30 - 45min.
I guess if I can consider myself fortunate for something it might be that I can tolerate the taste of Kratom.

That sounds like a great idea! Maybe it will help me deal with the vast assortment of personality disorders, crazier than me, that I am surrounded by on my job.

Yeah... It's an unfortunate fact of life that maladjusted people need to have a job too. Everywhere I've worked there's always seemed to be an abundance of them.
I'll have to try your lemonade recipe. I just assumed when I tasted Kratom for the first time that there's nothing you can do to make it taste good. So I just drink it straight up.

It sounds like you've tried a few different flavors of Kratom... I'd like to find one that keeps me up the way Maeng Da does but isn't so expensive.
Any Ideas?

I have an order of some dried leaf Bali on the way....that was less expensive, but most people still seem to think it still effective. I hope they are right, I plan on mixing a big batch and finding my good thermos for work:) I have been playing around with different flavors, and it seems that citrus and sugar really make it pop. Last night I mixed the last of my Maeng Da extract with some sleepy-time blend green tea leaf, lemon and lime slices, and sugar, and simmered it for an hour and used cheesecloth to press all the liquid out of the sludge for tea. I don't throw the sludge out, I just toss n wash bits of it...I do NOT plan on wasting any part of the alkaloids that might be left behind:) It was a great bedtime drink and I just now got up to get more and found that I liked the taste of the cold tea even better.

I like playing around in the kitchen..... who knows, I might end up putting this stuff in brownies and other baked goods like we used to do with weed/hash back in the day. Or not...I don't think it will ever be THAT palatable:)

I find that Bali has a more sedative effect on me than Maeng Da. The greens (Maeng da, Green Borneo and the like) are more stimulating. The reds are more sedating. But everyone is different when it comes to kratom.

I am hoping the Bali will be more sedating for me as well. I have always had trouble relaxing when it was time to go to sleep, and I would like to brew and keep on hand a "nighttime" blend to get some rest. The maeng da keeps me up during the day pretty well, I will just keep that as my wake-up blend.

I just had to do some experimentation after this. I tried some Stevia as a sweetener and I discovered that it neutralizes the bitterness VERY WELL.
I'll grab some lemons sometime soon.
Sugar would probably work as well as the Stevia, but it's just a personal decision to keep away from so much sugar. So if anyone is interested in making the stuff more palatable without the sugar, I reccomend Stevia.
Thanks for all the suggestions, we're going in a good direction on this :)

Morning!

Interesting how not many people go for the melted resin method! That's got to be one of the foullest flavours ever. Effective, though.

From strongest to weakest flavours it probably goes:

Resin solution
Chewing leaves (depending on leaves I guess)
Tincture (although you can get a nice minty one - whether it works for you or not is another matter)
Extract on tongue
Powder on tongue
Teas/infusions
Parachutes/caps etc.

Thing is, when I discovered Kratom I only knew about resin. There was this one little shop near me that sold it and I hadn't even thought of going online for it. So I just (painfully, nauseatingly) got used to the flavour of resin solution! By the time it came to chewing leaves and swilling extract, the flavour was fairly easy. But I love all the ideas about lemons, sweetners etc. How about lime? Honey? Chilli (hey, people put in in chocolate - so why not?)

In fact, I reckon if you're just making an infusion, you could probably mix it up with other dried herbs like mint, yarrow, fennel to alter the flavour away from downright nasty, then hit it with some citrus/sweetness to obliterate the remaining badness! Sounds like a lot of work, though, hey? Probably just the Stevia and lemon then. :)

Lots of good suggestions, love it! As for the resin, it is very nasty but I can put a few chunks in my coffee and that gives me a blast in the morning and my coffee is so damned strong you don't notice the flavor. However, earlier today I swung by my local smoke shop and bought some more resin. I put a couple of chunks under my tongue and went on my merry way. I went into the bank to pay a bill and it wasn't until I got back in the car and looked at the mirror that I realized that there was black shit all over the outside of my lips where the resin melted out. I wonder what they thought...how embarrassing. At any rate, that method, unpleasant as it is, packed a wallop on me for the rest of the day. The music in the car was sounding great, the fall leaves were looking REAL good, felt like I was driving a hovercraft or something. I just remembered to check my face in the mirror first before I went in somewhere.

Still waiting on my leaf to arrive, it should be here tomorrow.

Peace all,

C.
