I tried kratom recently and really liked it-not necessarily because it got me high, but because it beautifully counteracted the symptoms of my POIS (post orgasmic illness syndrome), which are: muscle tension, restricted breathing, zero drive/motivation, drained feeling, lack of emotion, social anxiety, brain fog, no concentration, negative thoughts, general feeling of shittiness.

I know the people in Southeast Asia chew Kratom virtually daily--and they seem to be doing alright. Do you think I could do it say, twice a week, without getting addicted or experiencing too much tolerance?

^Those people are maintaining themselves with kratom.

As far as how often you can use it, it really depends, but it is (in my opinion at least) slightly less addicting than hydrocodone, and about as addicting as codeine. There is a large amount of variability from person to person.

If you're using it to treat POIS, I would recommend taking it as often as you need to.

I take it daily, amounts up to 60g in a day frequently.

I've done this for a good few years.

Im in good health.

Withdrawals can be a bitch.

Tapering down and other withdrawal-prevention measures can be taken.

Using it twice a week won't lead to any ill-effects. It's got a myriad of health benefits. Use it as you feel necessary but beware that addiction can occur. I'm addicted, but imo, it's worth taking it daily to relieve my anxiety than simply suffering through life with anxiety and depression.

If u use it twice a week you will hardly experience a tolerance at all. Whether you can stick to twice a week is up to you....it isn't exactly like taking heroin where you will FIEND FOR IT! But it can be quite addictive, but not out-of-control addictive.

Thanks for the input!

Jeezum, 60g in a day? So I take it tolerance builds up with daily use...

Okay, so tapering down is good. I have rheumatoid arthritis as well, so perhaps kratom might address the shitty feelings (pain, fatigue) associated with that.

I've taken kratom 3 times now spaced out over 3 weeks, and i haven't fiended for it. More like a "wouldn't it be nice" attitude towards it.

Yeah to be honest, tolerance isn't too much of an issue with Kratom. I still thoroughly enjoy each dose.

Kratom will help massively with your arthritis. It's a muscle relaxant. It alleviates many nasty symptoms of all sorts of ailments....it's also absolutely lovely when you have the flu or even a hangover....just totally lightens you up, eases the load and makes you content as hell.

The only reason my dosaging has gone up to that level is because:

1) I enjoy it so much and

2) I have shit self-control

It isn't really because I NEED to or anything

Kratom twice a week should be fine, maybe builds tolerance after some time though, but not enough to get you addicted. Thrice a week then its almost EoD and may get you problems..

damn... isnt 60 g of kratom a whole lot? I read reports of people who dose maybe 2 or 3 mg like twice a day and feel great off of it.. but 60!? god damn.

There are different potency's and extracts, so his 60g probably isnt equal to the other folks

On another forum I frequent that deals exclusively with kratom, this conversation came up not too long ago. I can attest that kratom can in fact be addicting with heavy use or if extracts are used, but it really takes constant dosing to get addicted to plain leaf kratom IME/ ITOOM. Dosing two times per day, every day, for an extended period, is bound to cause dependence, but there are many who dose once daily or nearly daily and don't report any significant dependence. I wouldn't push it though, if dosing daily, I'd still take breaks every so often if only to ensure that the "magic" isn't lost. Also, I'll mention it again, the extracts are quite addicting, pretty much like typical opioids but with an added bit of unpleasantness in withdrawal IMO.

^I agree, it is a mountain of leaf powder that doesn't look like it should be able consumed in a single day! ...Not to mention that the nausea at that dose must be pretty unbearable.

I took extracts for about a month and they were decent quality. I also had tons of plain leaf prior to this with very good results. Before this I was taking 300-400mg of codeine a day. I did not go through any withdrawals from either of them. Kratom was making me sick sometimes so I just decided I felt better without.

Ah kratom...

I've been more or less addicted to it for a while now, about 6 months. I use it about every other day, and I feel like my usage has just barely over-stepped the line. Once or twice a week would be gravy, I couldn't see dependence sprouting from that HOWEVER as soon as you start using more often than twice a week, you're well on your way. Trust me, the urge to binge will come and as the nature of drugs goes, you will reason with yourself and find excuses to use more and more often. It's got a ton of benefits that come with its use. The focus, stimulation, energy, euphoria and general benefits to my ADHD-like condition blow Adderall away 10 times over. It's really hard for me to convince myself not to take it at work, or whenever really! It simply fixes everything that is wrong with my life...while at the same time beginning to consume my life.

I do feel mild withdrawal symptoms when I don't use, which can manifest and become quite debilitating, however are not severe enough to put a stop on life. Symptoms include mild depression and anxiety, fatigue, cold sweats/shivers, and general cravings. I feel like with a tapering plan I could probably ween myself off of it, but I'm not sure I'm ready to stop. Maybe it's time to use a little less, but stopping completely doesn't seem necessary.

Sorry this was more of a personal experience than advice about kratom, but it should more or less drive home the same points. If you use in moderation, you'll be fine. As soon as you start allowing exceptions to your own rules, you're headed down the path...

Good luck, and enjoy your kratom! :)
