Hello all, forgive me if I'm breking some rules or my composition of this post is off, as I'm posting from a phone.

First of all, I'm 19 and weigh 175. I'm in good health and workout regularly...but, I have horrible knee pain if I have to stand up for 3 or 4 hours in the day.

The pain is a really strong ache right below my knee caps...and nothing I do will make it go away, I work security at events once in awhile (like tonight) and I stand for most of it, and i can't sleep because of this. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be? It strikes me odd that I'm only 19 and have knee problems.

Come to think of it, this only really happens whenever I drink a rockstar energy drink during the day, it migt just be coincidence but still....

when you say "below the knee caps" do you mean like lower on your leg, or actually underneath your knee cap?

if it's underneath the knee cap, google "runner's knee" . . one of the most common knee afflictions, and it definitely isn't limited to runners. if that's the case, glucosamine/chondroitin is great, and stretching/strengthening exercises are essential.

Impossible to diagnose over the internet. You should go to a phisio, whatever's causing it they will fix it fo sho. Physios rock I want to marry one.

You should see a doctor if it's that bad.
What I got for the pains in my leg was China Gel you can order it online it's just a creme you rub into you skin. There's nothing to get you messed up on. They consider it a topical pain thingy..
I'm tired forgive me if this is poorly written.
If your interested you should be able to find it through Google.
Good luck I hope something helps!

I've been having knee problems lately, a few trips to a specialist and an MRI and so far the thing thats helped the most is changing my SHOES!

I was always wearing skate shoes which are flat and don't provide much/any arch support - I changed to some "running" style footwear and I have noticed a difference in a couple of days (and I have been havingt the problem for months)

Might not help you at all, but, keep it in mind!

I went the the Doctor for my knees a few weeks ago. They didn't do SHIT for me. Told me to KEEP taking ibprofen (after I said 800mg did nothing for me) and come back if that didn't work. I called again and they prescribed something else. I asked the pharmicist what medication the doctor had called in and it was a name I had never heard so I asked for an explanation of it as I like to know what I am taking. It was JUST like ibprofen, he said basically the same. Needless to say I did not pick up that script. I stick to Tiger Balm (can get at a pharmacy). It works fine, it just smells really strong. ;) Like someone else suggested, glucosamine C works and you should get that, too.

not sure if your issue is exercise related or not, but ibuprofen has come under some suspicion lately.

Wow, that is certainly disturbing. I 'have' taken ibprofen as my primary pain reliever since I was a child. I have always had knee pain. Perhaps it is worsening in PART as a result of my ibprofen intake. Interesting...

Is your knee swollen? Try to feel it-- does it have a heat or claminess to it?

Some types of knee pain are also characterized by a lot of popping. Does yours do this? Is there a stiffness to it?

There is more than one kind of knee pain/arthritis. Please pay attention to your symptoms..

My knee pain that I got from hiking in the cold was relieved by not eating dairy (in Scandanavia I had more than I ever had in my whole life) and hot compress.
