Ok, so this is day 1. Been dependent on norco 10/325 and 7.5/325 for about six years now off and on. Was prescribed the drug for severe pain due to a 1 ruptured disc and two bulged that were touching the nerve in my lower back. I'm an a/c tech and am very active in my job. Lots of strenuous lifting, bending etc. etc. This is my career and once I got the news from my doc as of why my lower back was on fire and couldn't perform simple task I was a little floored. He prescribed the norco 10/325 to be taken in conjunction with naproxen that he prescribed as well. I had no idea of the consequences of this drug at first and took them as prescribed for the first two years.

I will admit that they worked great! It eliminated most of the pain and I was able to work as normal. I noticed after a while that they helped with other issues as well. I missed an appointment in the second year and I was feeling better so I decided to just stop once I ran out. I noticed the second day without the pills that my pain came back but with a vengeance. I was bed ridden for a week and noticed I also had the flu...( had no idea at the time it was withdrawels). Went to the doc and he explained as of why I was in so much pain and the flu symptoms. He prescribed some more and went on with the normal schedule. Over time the pills weren't working as well and I bumped up the dosage.

So, as you can see where this is going, I have been struggling with a dependency that has taken over my life. At some points I was up to 12 7.5/325's a day. To some, this amount is not so much but for me it was a problem. I decided to quit and did so. I went thru the worst week in my life doing so. I felt like ripping the skin off of my body. It was a sad time and I hadn't researched much on it until the final days of w/d's. It was then I learned of kratom. I ordered some and capsulate s it and it worked great for the last bit of w/d's. So I was good for a while and then started to have bad pain again from a rough job I had. Got back on the med's and have been dealing with them for about a year now. Normal day is 8-9 7.5/325's and somedays I take 10-12 depending. I try not to go over 8 but somedays require it.

I'm going back to an old job that I left for my current one and its a place I'd like to retire from someday. Very good company and I want to be at my best there. I'm tired of depending on this drug just to get woken up in the morning but at the same time I have legitimate pain issues. I'm going to be using kratom to quit the norco or to stop the daily use anyway. I wanted to share my experience and how effective kratom is for quitting opiates. I've taken kratom before and am experienced with it and am starting a dose of 3-4 g every six hours for the first 3 days to get thru the worst of it. Then will taper down from there. I'm hoping that this dose will do but I may up it slightly.

My question to any that are reading is how to maintain daily after the w/d's subside. I always get depressed for about a month after I quit and it gets worse every time I quit. I'm planning on starting an exercise routine and stocking up on ibuprofen. I'll still have the norco for the really bad days but I'd love to hear any suggestions from those dealing with similar issues. I don't want to take this shit every day anymore and I'm tired of not being able to stop because of w/d's. So with all this said, I will keep posting daily on my doses of kratom and exactly how I feel to help those trying to quit opiates. Kratom, I know for a fact is a miracle in this department and I would love to help anyone out by detailing my experience with it this week. If your in the same shoes or have been and now have an alternative to the opiate please let me know your tricks. I can't just quit the work I do, it's what I know and it's how I support my family so I have to figure out how to cope without the norco on a daily bases. I've noticed I become dependent on this crap just after 3 days of use. It's rediculous.

Thanks a lot for any pointers and I'll post back tonight after the w/d's have set in pretty good and I have the kratom. I know tomorrow and the next two days will be the worst and ill kinda keep a good timeline so those who are gonna attempt the same can get an idea of what to expect. From what I've read, kratom can help you kick about anything, from alcohol to heroin. It's a blessing but its best used for this, not chronic use. I mean if you have chronic pain and you use kratom instead of other prescription drugs, more power to you because it is good for pain relief. Kratom is addictive however and I want to make that clear to anybody that is interested but don't know much about it. It is addictive and you will experience w/d's from quitting if taken for an extended period of time. It's not as bad as a traditional opiate though. With a slow taper, you'll barely notice it. I'll post back later.....

It's may 29th at 10:24a; so its been a day since my last dose of Norco. I felt like crap upon awakening this morning. Immediately took ten 00 caps filled with meang da. Waiting for some comfort to seep in but not there yet. It takes a little longer with the caps but its worth it for me not to have to taste that crap. I've done the toss and wash method many of times and it has started to make me gag on its way down so I try not to do it that way much. Well, the stuff has kicked in and I'm feeling much better. Not 100% but closer than I was.

Thanks, it was hard to read. I just went off and didn't think about paragraphing. Anyway, hope that's a little easier.

It's day 3 now and normally I would feel like total crap but unfortunately I binged a little last night. It was nice while it lasted but now back to where I was. It's difficult keeping my hands off the stuff while I still got it. Im not feeling too bad right now, eyes watering and stuff but my head feels clearer than usual. Ive heard that doing what I did last night can sometimes put you back at square 1 with the w/d's but if that were so I should be feeling like crap right now like I did every morning until I got it in my system. We will see..

Day 4 and mid morning. I can definately tell that the w/d's are starting to ease up. Last dose of kratom was at 8 last night. I'm feeling decent this morning but am sneezing and have a bit of fuzz in my head. The fuzz is always the hardest for me to get past and eventually always leads me back to something whether it be the Norco or kratom. I quit for a year before without using anything and that brain fuzz it seemed never went away.

What is this "fuzz". I guess this is what classifies as paws. For me I don't think it will ever really stop. I'm hoping to live a healthier lifestyle and get to where I can manage my back pain in a reasonable manner. I have severe pain at times and I've had many people tell me that its ok for me to be dependant on this drug as it is for pain and my pain never truly goes away. Better to live dependant on Norco than live a life in pain all the time. I don't completely agree with that anymore as with any opiate, certain things are lost. I've noticed that certain emotions are faded. I'm pissed all the time.

I just don't want to live for this drug. I may need it at times more than others and that's how I want to use it. Periodically, when no alternative will work. I tell myself this everytime I fill a script. " I'm not gonna take this Shit daily". It happens everytime. I perform so much better and can do things I normally can't because of pain and the next day when I wake, I'm thinking, what the help, one more day won't hurt. That goes on a couple more days then I'm like oh well, I'm already dependant.
:!

I know its a little late since you're already 4 days off but IME bali is much better for alleviating opiate w/ds. I started using it 4 days after I finished my two year stint with suboxone and I actually caught a buzz from it. It is unique as I would take it at night to knock me out as well as before work for a significant energy/mood boost. After being on it for six months I was given some 10mg hydros and I honestly felt better effects from 5 grams of high quality bali than 20mgs of hydrocodone. This post may have been pointless as you seem well informed when it comes to kratom but I wanted to go ahead and share my experience in case maeng da is the only strain you've tried.

Thanks for your insight. I have tried about every strain there is and Bali is the most euphoric. Bali was what I used to take regularly but I started noticing it made me dizzy. Sometimes really dizzy and nautious. I thought it was the amount I was taking so I backed off to 4 g to see if it helped and I still had the dizziness. Sumatra white vein was my favorite but my dealer stopped accepting cc so I moved and just went with meang-da. The opiates I enjoy for the pain killing effects but also for the energizing effects I receive. The meang-da kinda reflects the same energizing effect so that's why I went with that.

I would agree that Bali is probably best for most in this boat. Kratom is so awesome, no matter the strain, it all does relatively the same thing in masking the brutal side effects of quitting opiates. I would recommend it to anyone for short duration in opiate withdrawal.

Thanks again.

I'm wondering what type of exercise would be good for paws. I've heard mixed results. Should I push myself to the extreme (I.e. MMA type training) or stick to something more low key for a few weeks. I'm in good shape as it is, but my stamina is in the basement.

Any pointers???

Low weight/high repetition bench press is my go to exercise for paws/withdrawl. Light weight butterflys with dumb bells and tricep dips/push ups are also good for chest days. Upright rows, dumbbell/preacher curls and very light weight military presses for my shoulder/bicep days. I usually split my chest and shoulder days up with a day of nothing but crunches and sit ups inbetween. Cardio is out of the question for me right now due to paws, the only thing I could manage is 5 miles on a recumbent exercise bike. Things like squats, deadlifts, and power/hang clings are also no good for me right now as they make me too dizzy.

Good info, thanks again. Gonna start today on some light stuff and eventually get more intence. No Kratom today so far and feeling pretty good. I might ingest a little later but then again I may not depending on how the day goes. So far so good though.
