ketamine - which one

so i've read that there are 3 different types of ketamine: R(-)isomer, S(+)isomer and racemic


i will be acquiring some ketamine next week, and would like to know how to tell the difference between these three.

i would also like to know the effects each of these versions of the chemical have.

i doubt there is an easy way to tell and dont think there is a radical difference to trip. i wouldnt get too hung up on it
 
Ive noticed that out of the three, S-Isomer Ketamine is much more psychedelic. As for R-isomer and racemic, I havent noticed too much of a difference, although I know people who swear of a very distinct one.

i've also heard that S-isomer is nearly 2X as potent by weight, then its brothers.

are there any tests one can do to establish which form of ketamine they have?

Unless you've been sold (and maybe sold it at more than you would normally pay co often priced higher due to scarcity) a specifically named isomer by somebody who would know it's almost certainly racemic. For me, S-Ket is far more psychedelic with greatly reduced wonk compared to racemic. Then again I loves a good wonk and find it easier to hole on racemic. Swings, roundabouts, slightly different versions of a drug that some cream themselves over and others don't even notice. Never had R-but that seems to be far rarer and not in high demand either.

i've read that thread. thank you though.
it's the only source on the internet i can find that distinguishes between them.

do you know if there's a way to distinguish between the three?
maybe some kind of test?
 
If OP isn't aware, racemic is a 50:50 mix of R and S isomers.

The way you get R or S isomer of ketamine (or almost anything, unless you can start with chiral precursors) is to prepare the racemate, and separate it through some awkward, tedious process. The easier way is by forming the salt with some optically active acid, and one form precipitates (unfortunately, you probably don't get enough of a difference to do it in one step, so the process ends up being long and painful), or if there isn't a suitable acid, column chromatography (UGH!) with a chiral medium. Thats why enantiomericly pure drugs are so rarely encountered - unless there's a biologically created precursor in there somewhere, it's a bitch to prepare.

Most pharmaceutical and illicit ketamine is racemic, but enantiomericly pure S-ketamine is available under the brand "Ketanest S".

Unless it is specified, ketamine you get is the racemate.
 
This may not help as I'm very experienced w/street k and pharma K however what I assume is that the shitty K that I've had many times is R-Ketamine. It gets me high but doesnt last longs and getting into a KHole is impossible. It's been forever since I've had pharma K so I cant tell u the real difference between S and racemic but I'd assume either would b just as good as eachother, but stay away from R-K, it sux. Again I'm just assuming as all the pharam K has been racemic and nobody that sells street K knows if it's isomeric. I dont know why the K I get varies so greatly not just in terms of potency but in terms of overall effects but other than isomers I cant figure out y.

reading this, it's very possible that what you've been getting is tiletamine. check out some of the experiences on erowid....sounds like what you got.

even with racemic, i can still k hole easily. and with s-isomer (like aquaket brand) while it's more potent feeling, i can still hole.
and my tolerance is getting a bit more then i'd like it to be.
 
how do u figure it would be tiletamine, tiletamine last much longer has after fx,is much more stimulating, is WAY more potent and u can stillkhole or get stuck on it, this other crappy k i get u cant do any of that
 
what about Anesket brand...a lil birdie told me that part of the reason it wasnt legally sold in the US was because USP ket is required to be racemic 50/50, meaning 50% r-iso & 50% s-iso, while Anesket clocked in at 75-85% s-isomer...now this could be complete bullshit. just figured i'd throw it out there, the birdie said that the anesket seemed roughly 2x potency compared to what he normally acquires (ketalar, ketaset, or imported indian/chinese xtal) and was without a doubt waaayyyy more psychedelic. sounds similar to the Vulcan brand mentionedby Cloudy....Aquaket tho, huh? never even heard of it...hafta tell that bird to keep his eyes peeled...hahaha
