Keif Powder in eye. Very painful.

In the middle of the tunnel, I think I see a light
I was cleaning out the sieve of my kief box. Sadly these screens holes are small because the mesh is so tight so sometimes it gets clogged. I usually just scrape it with a guitar pick and blow through it to clear it out and keep on going. This time when I went to blow through it, most of the dust blew straight back in my eye. It was unfortunate because it was really quite a lot and the substance itself seems to be very painful to the eyes anyway. I hurried to the bathroom and put my eyes directly under the faucet and blinked furiously but it didn't even help. It's been about 20 minutes now and it still burns pretty bad. Anyone out there got any remedies?

go stick your head under some water and flush it out gently. repeat 5-10 minutes later if necessary. did you get any effects other than an irritated eye?
 
I'm sorry I shouldn't laugh cause the situation sucks, not only losing Keif but getting it in your fucking eye of all places. But I can just imagine myself doing the exact same thing and it makes me laugh fucking hard hahaha.

Stoners for the win :)
 
Well I have already smoked a lot so I can't judge the effects too well. The burning is very slowly subsiding, water rinses do nothing, but the pain is almost done now. My eyes are very red and not because of being high either. I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and it looked like I had been maced. The initial pain was in all honestly debilitating. I've never been maced, but I'd imaging it's similar.

Ok yes this is true, but I have so much kief that the amount I lost was very minimal. When I said a lot I was referring to the actual amount that got into my eye. You could see it like specs of dirt or something so I tried no to rub. I was planning on blowing it on the ground anyway, but yes it is funny it would happen like that.

Saftey first, use your lab goggles when handling marijuana. You don't want to end up like carol.

I've actually done the whole blow the keif thing before, but never got it in my eye. I am so wearing goggles from now on... Except I'm a stoner so i'll forget. And someday I'll dig up this thread and be the new you OP.

well carol, next time to clean ur kief screen in ur grinder, keep it in, and simply apply pressure while rubbing ur finger or thumb
over the screen, back n forth.
this will help the majority of the kief still in the mesh screen to fall through and join its powdery crystal friends.


seriously, youd be amazed at how much the screen on its own can hold
 
Not a bad idea Sega thanks. When it gets really caked sometimes I soak the whole thing in isopropyl and evaporate the keif that's left. I've been saving all the iso stuff separate because I'm afraid to smoke it. However, I have evaporated plenty of the alcohol by itself in a pyrex glass and it leaves no residue. Ingredients say 91% isopropyl and 9% distilled water.

but rly, simply pressing down hard (dont break the screen from the grinder) and rubbing vigorously gets most of it out.

but yeah, the iso kief hash shit is fine to smoke.
try it and watch (with blurry eyes) how high u get

i thought you were some lassie with thc in her eye who decided to make a wee picture to say how blind she is and now she has facial hair (wtf?)

and not really over complicated due to OCD, just maybe looked up a method of how to clean a kief screen and didnt see the thread on BL where i go in depth on simple methods that only use a finger.
