"Drink water when on drugs."

The chorus of rec users is overwhelming; but are we being overcautious?

Many drugs are renally excreted, and my suspicion is that the more water goes through your body, the faster the excretion will be. This is based on my own rudimentary understanding of the body.

I am sure that someone in here knows a lot more about than me, and I would like that someone to enlighten us: does overhydration increase renally excreted drugs?

PS) I am in no way saying that people should stay away from water when on drugs. I am simply out for information here.

Does noone have any opinions on this? I woul hate to pee out my medications too quickly because I drink a lot of water...

But if ridiculous amounts of water would increase excretion, does it not stand that water does affect how quickly it happens, albeit in minute quantities?

I drink a lot of water, up to 4 liters a day, so I am a little curious...

I don't think hydration/water intake affects the half life of a drug to a point in which it would become an issue.

Though I'd happily be corrected by anyone who has a source to something which suggests otherwise.
