Many of us are familiar with Kary Mullis for his Nobel Prize winning invention PCR, which he gave credit to LSD for the insight.
I just learned that he wrote a book called “Dancing Naked in the Mind Field” and in it, he apparently describes the synthesis and bioassay of novel psychoactives. Sound familiar?!

The better living through chemistry chapter mentions his synthesis of DET, and subsequent 10x overdose. He doesn’t claim inventing the molecule, just that he made it and not much was known about it.
Anyone know what other psychedelics or drugs did Kary Mullis synthesize or invent?
Is it assumed that Shulgin was the inventor and first one to synthesize DET and most of the other molecules in TIHKAL and PIHKAL? I know he wasn’t the first to make LSD, or MDMA (right?) but I thought he was generally the creator of most of those compounds.
