I just got my sentence today for 2 felonies in the state of PA...I go in tomorrow and will be serving 90 days in county jail followed by 5 months of house arrest and 6 years probation!!! Yes, that's 6 years....

As ackward as this may sound, my biggest concern is not being able to workout in jail and then the 5 months during my house arrest...I plan on naturally losing all of my fat but how the fuck am I going to survive without my daily pump???!!!

I'm sorry that this is more of a rant and Victor please remove if necessary but I'm really stressing here..i'm obcessed with the gym and have gained 30 lbs in 2 years....fuck...:(

if it's anything like the uk, their gyms should be very good. and then you can get yourself a bench while you're on house arrest

nope.....county here wont let you lift....also I'm the type of person who NEEDS to go to the gym to get results...it's just something about the atmosphere....I'll definately build a home gym though

does house arrest literally mean you can't go out for anything other than work and food and basic supplies?

Can you work with your probation officer and schedule set times to go to the gym?

well you'll cross that bridge when you come to it.

About the jail workouts, man you can do a LOT with bodyweight stuff. I was watching some stuff on television about bodyweight jail house workouts, its insane how freakin ripped some guys get.

You'll maintain at least.

house arrest is horendous...hopefully ill talk to my po and be able to go to school and gym...

yeah cross that bridge later

do you got enough bodyweight exercises to keep you straight?

There's a lot of different ways you can target certain muscle groups with bodyweight exercises. You should probably at least have BW exercises for: front upper, back upper, back lower, abs, psoas, gluts, front thigh, back thigh, calves

i could swear that green has a weight room? maybe they did away with it? chances are you aint going there anyway..

Eat as much fucking protein as you can get your hands on. Nuts are a cheap and easy one.

Get several plastic bags, put one inside the other to help guard against leakage, use a jug to measure how much you put in, and lift away. That's biceps, triceps and squats covered. Push ups for pecs, sit ups for core strength. Dependant on bar layout in your cell, you MAY be able to do pullups/heaves, however that may be out due to hanging point issues.

Prison food is designed to be cheap and easy. Request Vegetarian meals - while hundreds of normal meals have to be prepared, few vegetarian ones do, so the quality of food will invariably be better.

Also, cortisol, which is released by stress, attacks your muscles for rapid energy for fight/flight. A permanent state of anxiety will kill your musculature. Stay calm. Read philosophy books if you have access to them. Get someone to send you in de Botton's 'The Consolations of Philosophy' and take it a day at a time.

no man the fishsticks are actually pretty good! stick with the meat!

You can also try some isometric stuff (as long as you don't get caught straining against the metal bunks would provide at least a signal to your muscles that they should shuttle some glycogen in).

PARooolller, best of luck in there, watch yourself....focus on working out to help the time fly. Good luck bro.

Sorry to hear about the time bro. Good luck and see you on the other side :)

Stick with as much protein as you ca and do bodyweight workouts.

Gymnastic ring training. Get a pair of rings and hang them up somewhere in your house. Do muscle ups, handstand pushups (on rings is the equivlent of doing a bodyweight overhead press) plance pushups are the equivelent of a bodyweight bench press, iron cross progressions etc. Check out www.beastskills.com and www.gymnasticbodies.com

How strong is it possible to become with bodyweight exercises? Amazingly strong. In fact I would go so far as to say, done correctly, far stronger than someone who had trained for the same amount of time with free weights. Want some concrete examples? One of my former students, JJ Gregory (1993 Junior National Champion on the Still Rings) developed such a high degree of strength from my bodyweight conditioning program that on his first day in his high school weightlifting class he deadlifted 400lbs., and this at the scale breaking weight of 135 lbs. and a height of 5’3”.

Most jails have workout equipment. There's a lot of people who have gone into jail/prison and came out a lot stronger than they were prior.

Sorry to hear about the conviction...
