Mental Health Just dont know how to feel

I have been with my bf for 5 years, we have an amazing relationship. He started doing drugs really bad and when he started doing drugs he started to get paranoid and didn't trust anybody. As the years go by the drugs he was using was getting harder and harder. His paranoia was getting so bad. He got so paranoid that he thought i had cheated on him, and that I would have guys come to the house... Before he started using drugs he was fine, we was fine! He dropped all his friends because he thought they all was out to get him. He had recently stopped using everything, then he got introduced to the synthetic marijuana he started using that, the he quit cold turkey! Then out of no where he started using it again

We got into a argument and I left and went to stay with my grandmother, two days passed he had came to my house and he was talking crazy. He was saying things like the government was ran by nazis, the place he worked at was shipping drugs to different countries, and he kept telling me that he was "out" and I was "in" I am not sure what he meant by that, well we went to a park and sat and talked, and every car that passes by he thought they were staring at him, or watching him, or following him. Well later that night he was admitted to the hospital because he was suicidal. He gave the nurse a list of drugs he has used: Opiets, LSD, Crack, Cocaine, herione, pot, synthetic pot, etc. He was put on a 72 hour hold for drug induced psychosis, then the 3rd day he was refusing his medicine and punched a guard and knocked three of the guards teeth out, after that he was transferred to a [COLOR=#4C4CFF !important]mental hospital[/COLOR], he has been there for a month. the first couple days was very bad, he didn't want to talk to me or see me. As time went by he eventually started talking to me and started seeing me. He is sounding like himself now, he isnt paranoid,he is just depressed. he says he is never getting out of the hospital. He misses home. he told me he doesn't know what his diagnosis is all he knows is that he is taking abilify also he says now he wish I loved him and was honest with him, when he gets out he has an assault charge from when he punched that guard at the last hospital. I love him to death and I know he loves me because when he isn't having a episode of paranoia we are perfect together. His sister told me his mother has been diagnosed with [COLOR=#4C4CFF !important]borderline personality disorder[/COLOR], and his uncle has bipolar disorderI just feel like I am at a dead end. I am currently 8 months pregnant with his baby, he says he is excited when the baby gets here and he wants to be there for her. He just has days where he just is not himself.
I just want him to get better, and come home.
How long does it take a person to come out of psychosis
 
Violence is one thing. Violence in a mental hospital is quite another. Your boyfriend sounds very ill. If he can't stop using drugs, he might be in and out of mental hospitals his whole life.

You're saying that even in the hospital he has days that he isn't himself?

It can take minutes to never. No one really knows. But if he continues to use drugs, it will be much more likely to be permanent. I somewhat doubt it is, though. Especially if it's borderline personality disorder.

He paranoia sounded pretty severe, though.

If he's depressed, the hospital should treat him for it. But it won't make him high like the drugs he abused. Maybe ask about wellbutrin, effexor, or agomelatine. It makes sens that he would feel down naturally if he's been abusing hard drugs (which synthetic cannabinoids are) for a while.
