I'm looking for a particular style of music. I suppose I'd call it jazzy hip-hop, although it could also be a certain style of ambient/downtempo electronic as well. I like songs that have that 'rainy' percussion feel to them or the sound of a crackling record, along with some blissed out beats. Here's a list of a few songs that have the style that I'm looking for.

DJ Krush - Listen
Aphilas - Lifelong Fiction
Bonobo - Silver
The Herbaliser - A Mother (For Your Mind)
Breakage - Hill St
Jazz Liberatorz - Blue Avenue
TactiK - The Deep End
Peanut Butter Wolf - Summer's End
Damu The Fudgemunk - Da Coffee Table
Dela - The Bullshit

If anyone knows of any other songs that might fit into this category.. please, post away!

Check out Mononome, Funky Notes-Never Knew, some Bonobo songs like Silver or Sleepy Seven or Ketto, C-mon&Kypski.. Almost all instrumental though

I think the whole album is great Bonobo - Animal Magic, I'd even check out some older Ninja tune releases - DJ Food, DJ Vadim, Kid Koala

maybe Boards of Canada

RJD2
DJ Spooky - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPNLAuKgaEM
DJ Shadow Endtroducing.....

Early Air is good too, Premiere Symptomes

Jazzanova - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRNoAolL9XI

Thievery Corp? Or a bunch of artists off their label

Maybe go deep and check out real Jazz, Miles Davis has some cool stuff thats like the precursor to all of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_biia-sQ7A - Panthalassa, even Herbie Hancock really - Headhunters, etc. (Watermelon Man)

Pretty sure I mentioned Silver. That's the kind of stuff I'm going for. I prefer instrumental :)

Awesome, thank you. DJ Food, Kid Koala, Thievery Corp, DJ Shadow and BOC are all some of my favorites. Thanks for the suggestions as well!

I kind of re-discovered Luke Vibert, another great artist who has a bunch of tunes that are similar in genre.

You should look into electro swing! Its my new obsession. My favorite electro swing artist is Kormac.

A great album is Manipulating Agent by Katalyst. A must!

Also hit up DJ Frane - Journey to the Planet of Birds. Amazing down tempo hip hop. Even some Mr Scruff. I think somebody mentioned those Ninja Tune compilations already though.

If you like the Herbaliser, try DJ Format, his fabriclive comp is good too.

Some Gilles Peterson BBC jazz mixes have down tempo hip hop samples.

The Diplo remix of California Soul by Marlena Shaw is also dope.

Cut Chemist - The Audience is Listening - rad album.

I second whoever mentioned RJD2 and Shadow of course.

Mark Farina - Best of Mushroom Jazz has lots of hip hop vocals to, by People Under the Stairs etc
