So it's been nearly 10 years since I left the rave scene and settled down to a much more mellow, conventional, drug-free lifestyle. Every now and then though I hear some great new electronic music or see some video clips of a spectacular recent dance event and I get cold shivers down my spine that makes me wish to god I was there. Holy crap it would be great to get amongst just once or twice more again!

Any way.

So all the party people I used to know have gone their separate ways and suddenly it hits me that I don't have a group of like-minded mates to go to an event with....something you take for granted back in your late teens/early 20's. What is a rave if you aren't heading off to one giddy with excitement with a bunch of good friends... later coming up together, jumping around together, and talking shit together?!

Have any of you ever faced something resembling this situation? I'm sure my 20 year old self would have confidently strode off to the next rave with or without said group of friends, knowing that he'd quickly make some early in the night and have a bloomin' great time. Somehow this 31 year old isn't so sure... :-/

Maybe I should forget friends and just track down a seriously great looking party (a quick search on google shows up some pretty amazing looking events like Tomorrowland), get myself there, and see where the night takes me! Whaddaya think?

...thoughts?

I've only been too one race, and was small about 600 people. But it you're 31 and show up alone without drugs it might seem weird to others if you just try to jump into there crowd and make friends. But if you show up on high on some good MDMA or LSD and have some to share the process will go alot smoother lol just my opinion

Dude the rave community im a part of includes people aged 16-73. literally, i know this dude whos 73 and goes to the desert techno shenanigans. if its a good rave family they wont judge you for your age, that seems absurd.

I guess you are right, Tryptamino!

So...suppose I could go anywhere....where in the world are the most impressive raves?

73 going to desert raves? For some reason that's extremely hard to believe, call me cynical.

You must not know many active people in their 70s. I have met some 70 year olds who look 70 and others who look late 50s... i could see myself doing this if i were an active 70 year old. I mean look at raja ram from shpongle that dude processes music in his 70s. To deny its possibility outright would be incorrect, to say its uncommon is probably better. I always see this guy who must be 70 at grateful dead cover bands he seems pretty energetic lol

But to answer the original question if you go with the intent of having a good time, bring the things you feel required to have a good time, you may go and meet some people ya never really know. I know I am not all that great at meeting people but i go to shows alone if i feel the desire because i do have fun im just not that great at making friends in short periods of time. Go and have fun see where it takes you!

I wouldn't restart my rave career by going to a big event like TomorrowWorld, unless you LOVE big crowds. EDM has become so mainstream that a semi-Underground community has sprung up again in many cities. Look into it and you should be able to find better smaller parties.
