Hey, I'm 15 years old and today I was diagnosed with ADD and was treated with this medication called Vyvanse 20 MG. My question is is it an amphetamine and is it similar to adderall? If so, is it stronger than adderall or weaker?
Can you get high off it?
I'm also prescribed Lortab 10/500, if you mix these medications do they cause pleasant effects?
Please tell me as much info on this medication.
Thankz ;)

It's a prodrug for Dexedrine, which means in order for it to work, it must be metabolized by your liver, so you have to take them orally.
It is neither stronger nor weaker than adderall, it just lacks the bad levo-amphetamine.

Vyvanse (lisdexamphetamine) is a pro-drug for dextroamphetamine. By itself, it doesn't do anything. There is a certain amount of the enzyme that converts it into d-amph in your body, so as long as you have some lisdexamphetamine floating around, your body will convert it into a steady stream of d-amph. Since the amount of the enzyme is a constant, this stream will always flow at the same rate, until the lisdexamphetamine runs out.

Think about it this way: you have a car, and lisdexamphetamine is the fuel. Putting more fuel in the tank won't make the car run any faster, only longer. You can take a double dose, but it won't double the intensity of the effects, rather it will double the duration. This is why it's considered non-abusable.

A major disadvantage of this mechanism is that it will take a few hours for the d-amph to build up and reach a steady-state concentration after you first dose in the morning / whenever.

In addition to what the others said,

"As opposed to Adderall, which contains roughly 75% dextroamphetamine and 25% levoamphetamine, lisdexamfetamine is a single-enantiomer (dextro) amphetamine formula."
"25 mg of Vyvanse is molecularly equivalent to 10 mgs Adderall (resulting in or including 7.37 mg versus 7.50 mg dextroamphetamine, respectively), although a 25 mg Vyvanse capsule is not commercially available. However, the molecular equivalence ratio does not mean that the respective doses of Vyvanse and Adderall XR (Spansule) are bioequivalent because the two formulations have slightly different pharmacokinetic profiles.each milligram of lisdexamphetamine is equivalent to 0.2948 mg of dextroamphetamine base"

So, 20 mg Vyvanse (lisdexamphetamine) is roughly equal to 5.896 milligrams of dextroamphetamine, the primary chemical in Adderall.

Vyvanse is composed of the dextroamphetamine salts in Adderral(which has 4 amphetamine salts). 20mg is low dose and its hard to get high off Vyvanse unless you take a whole bottle worth(which I did of the 70mg and ended up in the hospital trying to kill myself...amphetamine psychosis).

Yes if you mix it with lortabs you will get a nice speedball buzz going
