First off- I'm not being event specific. =) Many massive raves sell tickets VIP tickets. VIP option generally gets you unlimited water, alcohol, a less crowded place to dance and perhaps actually sit, quick entry, and nicer less crowded bathrooms. In many cases, backstage access of some sort.

My question to those who have rolled and experienced the "VIP difference", is it worth it if you're rolling? Are there a large amount of people in VIP who are rolling at massives?

The MDMA experience is so different from alcohol experience, and I feel like much of the VIP "luxuries" are really more geared towards those drinking.

I always get VIP. Ive noticed it weeds out the "trashy" people because you have to pay more. But in the end it depends on what you're looking for at a rave, most VIPs have there own dj, so that's a plus. I wouldn't get VIP to dance, most of VIP is just chairs and shit

We don't really have massives here.

But i know the people who throw the parties i go to, and often help with organizing/setup/breakdown which makes me VIP by default.

Its pretty cool to be on the guest list.

In colorado, VIP is a way to keep rolling kids out by charging more. You'll find more jaded oldsk00lerz in the VIP area and a lot of them, imo, are complete douchefags. I respect that, though. The VIP luxuries are geared towards the "older, jaded crowd" rather than rolling kids, although there are benefits for rolling kids that can afford VIP -- I just wouldn't hang out in the VIP area.

I like to hop around (sometimes literally!) and meet everyone, I don't care about alcohol- but comfortable seating and backstage access may just be worth it. I'm probably wearing a bikini, lights and that's it (lol) so I may want to avoid being sandwiched in a crowd.

It's funny how a person in this thread said it weed out the "trashy" people pathetic...

Everyone that's gotten VIP that I know has regreted they did, you can't really dance in the small area.

Why go to a music festival to just sit and listen to music and get away from "trashy" people when you can do that at home in front of your own computer.

So imo no you don't get too meet all the hundreds, or thousands of incredible people that go.

I got VIP only because they normal tickets were "sold out" at the outlet (bullshit probably) the promoters probably just wanted to sell more VIP. Oh well, that's what you get for waiting so long I guess. I'll take advantage of the goods they offer but it's pretty gay that this Utah venue still isn't goingto include alcohol in VIP - a lot of people despise this venue and I understand why. If your rolling VIP isn't going to do much if anything for you

Yes then you have the best of both worlds - you can jump about like a loon with the ravers and then wander off to the VIP section where is cleaner and you can chill out, get a drink etc.

Normally the VIP has a que jump which can be a godsend if the event is busy

I wouldnt get VIP for a massive.. whats the point of chillin in the vip if youre not going to chill with the MASSIVE and meet and talk with random people lol. I've only had VIP one time last year but it wasnt a massive it was a small scale concert with one main dj as the main act and like 2 other dj's going on before him and I thought that was worth it because there was a private VIP area upstairs ( it was at the shrine expo in LA if anyone knows what im talking about ) and the main area was downstairs. Well my home girl and I got free water, OJ, alcohol whatever we wanted all night so we hooked our friends up with free water all night and free redbulls and such. We all probably saved a hundred dollars each in drinks. My home girl brought her backpack so we would fill the back pack with water, OJ, and red bulls lol it was an awesome night. I think thats the only time its worth it to be VIP.

I haven't gotten VIP at a concert or rave. I did meet the DJ at Escape in Amsterdam and got VIP there. The club sucks ass though, bunch of coked out guys desperate to score, the few very hot chicks were on the arms of rich middle aged guys. Should have gone to Studio 80. But it was nice having a place to sit and an illegal smoking area so we didn't have to go outside.

I figure for the better bathrooms, free new waters, and backstage access it may be worth it- I would never want to only hang out in some VIP area though =0 I love meeting tons of people, and I enjoy being in the crowd...at this massive we can leave and come back to the less crowded VIP area.

The smoking area is not illegal, they are allowed in Amsterdam.

Escape is a pit though.

yes its worth it; separate entrance, free booze and water all night (I dont drink alchy so I am just rocking waters) and cleaner bathrooms (usually but not always). Anyways, like you and a couple others said, the VIP is geared to more of the drinkers and a older crowd, but it is nice to escape from the madness, sit down, and relax in. I don't just sit in VIP all night, I usually stock up on water bottles and sneak it past security out into the regular areas and just go back and forth all night. But I would go VIP all the way every time I go to a massive. One time it took me 3.5 hours to get inside a event when I went regular. That is such a long time. I would of rather waited a max of 30 mins in the VIP line (or less I have gotten in under 3 mins a couple times but 30 mins was the longest I had to wait getting in VIP). I say go for VIP

Funny, I thought raves were based on the PLUR fable, yet they have VIP sections. Does not sound like a rave but a big commercial party..

They aren't all like that.

I have seen parties where the vibe was as close to plur as possible.

think about it like this.
If you pay the extra money and you have your own place to sit.
you can invite some pretty girl or guy you meet from the dance floor into your little vip area.

The security guards generally ignore what goes on in those areas so feel free to crush up some mdma right on the table and snort it there. Give the girl a bump.

You generally get some "Free" Alcohol. But a place to sit and slightly converse with a new found friend is by all means awesome.

Plus is shows them you have money... so uhh.... herp a derp??

The one time I got VIP was for a big event that was supposed to be held at a nice, fancy venue. We kept asking on the forums what VIP entailed but everything was buggered up from the get go. They actually ended up changing venues at the last minute and none of the staff knew what was going on. Pretty much, all we ended up with was getting into the (empty) venue first and an area with couches that we didn't even use because our other friends weren't VIP. We thought we'd at least get free water (which is why we actually bought it), but no... just some laminated passes. It did kinda come in handy though because half way through the night they decided only VIP could be allowed re-entry so our smoking friends really enjoyed us having passes. But overall, if we had known VIP allowed so little perks, we wouldn't have gotten it.

It really just depends on the event, venue, organizer. If you're unsure, ask exactly what VIP entails. Sometimes it's worth it, other times it's total bullshit.

How does it work inside the VIP? A buddy and I just grabbed some VIP tickets to TAO. Will we be able to get our drinks/waters and meet our group out on the main floor? Or are all drinks restricted to stay in VIP to keep people from handing them outside?
