Is there a reason why there's more heroin addicts that come here than crack addicts?

Just wondering. I've never done either drugs, or any for that matter, but I do like reading about it, and peoples experiences. I'm curious, but not curious enough to try. But i have noticed while scrolling through you rarely see any people talk about their crack addiction. I mainly see Heroin, and meth from time to time as far as harder drugs go. I'm guessing that crack is 10x harder to quit, and the users are more prone to sell everything, and end up homeless. Whereas heroin users are a bit more tamed? I don't know, just wondering.

- heroin is FAR more socially-acceptable (now, anyways) than crack
- heroin is FAR more popular (well, opiates anyways - at least in my neck of the woods)
- IME, dopeheads tend to be much more 'in control' and able to have desire / be able to post online in general

I always was able to resist selling my laptop when I was doing heroin. I needed it for school and would be screwed without it. I did pawn everything else of value (new ipod, gold jewelry, etc.) while I was addicted, except for my cell phone.

also, maybe its because after people use dope, they usually just want to lounge around and chill watching TV, nodding, or going on the computer. whereas crackheads probably have all this energy and cant sit still and want to go out and do a bunch of stuff. I haven't personally known any crackheads but my former neighbor did a lot of meth and she was up at all hours of the night, always wanting to do the most random things (like go walk around random fields and apartment complexes at 4am). and us dope fiends were content to just sit around my apartment, playing computer games and watching TV and falling asleep.

they seem to have very different "addictive-pulls" (as in, id imagine one would be more likely to pawn their pc towards the end of a crack binge, whereas with dope one would be more likely to pawn their pc once the dope's outta their system and the sickness starts)

Ok, sounds plausible.

Hey good question i have noticed this as well since ive been here. Definitely a good topic to ponder. Interesting you havent done any drug but your curious about them and read bluelight alot. Usually curiosity and drug use go hand n hand.

Not really. My father was a crackhead and still is, I suppose as I haven't spoken to him in years, but I'm guessing that's what has kind of piqued my curiosity. How can something be so good that it causes them to give up everything in life.

Although I didn't have a father, I had a really good upbringing. I guess I really listened in school when they said don't do drugs. I remember seeing some of the kids in class snorting in the back of the classroom, but I never partook in any of it. I've always researched drugs and read stories about them, but never tried them.

My doctor did prescribe me adderall like a year ago for ADD. I took them and thought they helped a bit with my focusing and concentration, but it gave me in an increase in anxiety, ticks, and made me jittery so I stopped taking them and suggested a non stimulant medication. I hate the thought of even taking one.

But as far as harder drugs go, I'll never try them. I just like reading up on it, and hearing other people's stories. It's kind of like driving in your car and slowing down when you see a huge wreck to get a peek I guess.

I've met far many more ex-heroin addicts who want to talk about their experience as a middle class, male.

You can only take so much heroin before gouching out whereas crack addicts can carry on smoking constantly if their funds allow it.
So their need for more crack is still there no matter how many rocks they have smoked they always want just one more rock. I had taste of it myself a few years back and I know if I carried on smoking crack I would have sold my computer and a lot else besides by now.
Although difficult it is easier to stay in control while on heroin as opposed to crack

I would also assume that most people here are of at least lower-middle class status, and perhaps at worst upper-lower class. Crack seems to be overwhelming favored by the poor, while heroin is popular all over.

I've smoked crack a couple of times, and hated it. Never touching it again. I will never leave the heroin/rest of the opiates alone completely. Extended hiatus? Sure, I spend most of my life off of all opiates except for my 2mgs bupe for the day. But I always come back to the opiates eventually. It's nice to feel human every once in a while.

I'd say the racial/ socioeconomic aspect of crack use vs heroin use is a large factor. I know that in my experiences running around ghettos in a benzo haze (happened in a few cities across USA), finding crack off of black dudes in the poor part of town was always pretty much guaranteed. I have never run into a heroin/ opiate dealer on one of these journies. I know that heroin can be found in open air markets, but in areas where there isn't one I'm under the impression that crack is generally easier to find while walking through the predominantly black and poor part of town.

I think the main reason you see a lot of heroin users and opiate users coming to these forums and not so much crack users is because of the class of people / type of person who use each drug.

In the US there many more cocaine and crack users than there are heroin users, but, (and this is also speaking from personal experience), crack users for the most part tend to be lower class, less educated, more wreckless types. Heroin users for the most part are more educated, middle-upper class types, who also happen to research the drugs they use.

Many crack users dont use the internet at all and are too strung out and busy always trying to score more shit and they dont wanna just sit and relax behind a computer a chill out. Whereas heroin users, once weve gotten our fix, we are perfectly content to do a shot, chill out for 4 - 6 hours and just relax, read the forums, nod out, chat with people, etc. Whereas someone who is using crack, does not have that time to chill out and relax, as soon as they take a hit there thinking about the next hit and how to score it, not how they can chill and enjoy there high.

I have smoked a good amount of crack in my day, but it was never my DOC, heroin has been my DOC since i was 16. I suspect most heroin users here have also used crack, or use crack as well as heroin, but it is not there DOC.

agree with most answers

coke is shitty enough...why would you want something more intense than that is beyond me...would never accept it for free, maybe if someone paid me for it...dope on the other hand
