Hi all i went to the psychiatrist for my depersonalization/derealization these days and she prescribed me xanax for 10 days
I take a quarter of the 0.25mg pill
Is it possible to build a psychological addiction?

IME benzos don't have a real psychological pull. Now the physical dependance is a whole other story. Most people who find benzos appealing have extreme anxiety and get addicted because they keep treating their symptoms with them. You said you are taking a quarter of a .25 pill? .0825mgs can't even be psychoactive? With a supply that small I highly doubt you will get addicted. .25mgs is the lowest dose they prescribe.

You take a quarter of a .25 pill or you take a .25?

Either way, you won't develop a physical addiction if you take it as prescribed for 10 days.

Another story is that depersonalization is the thing you look out for once you get seriously addicted and then you get off. I've been having problems with depersonalization and derealization since I quit benzodiazepines half a year ago after 9 years of using them every day.

And I agree that psychological addiction wasn't much of a problem for me when I was to quit benzodiazepines. I was simply afraid of benzodiazepine withdrawal more than anything, I didn't feel like taking them for years, but it was so hard to quit.

OP you won't get addicted. Psychological addiction came only after my first physical addiction. It re-wired my brain in a way that associated my stress response with a pill. That was only after months of high dosages.
