First off I wanna say that I've been visiting this site for quite a while and I enjoy reading about personal experiences opposed to always reading what pharmaceutical companies want me to read in their leaflets... but this is my first time posting. I made an account specifically for this post cuz there's not much info on personal experiences when injecting Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) and I wanted to provide one for all the people who are on the fence about using Sub IV.
Let me start by saying that I'm not a medical professional and the following information is for entertainment purposes only. Always adhere to your doctor's recommended dosing techniques of the drugs you're using.
Now that I've put in my 'disclaimer' let's get on to the experience. One VERY important thing to remember before even thinking about shooting Sub is that you CANNOT be on ANY type of opiate (other than the bupe in the sub) if you're gonna try this. If you're using opiates (oxy, dilaudid, morphine, H, etc.) you will go through the horrid precipitated withdrawls that we've all heard so much about... and take it from me, it's an absolutely awful thing to go through (I once had precip. withdrawl from straight naltrexone, similar to naloxone, and it was the worst experience of my life... I'll save it for another post). If attempting to inject Sub then the ONLY opiate that should be in your system is the buprenorphine from the Sub you're taking, that's it.
I started wanting to inject it because I've read several times that the bioavailability of the bupe is 98-100% when injected, whereas subligually it's around only 30-40% (sorry I have no reference for those percentages, but if you look around I'm sure you can find the info). Seeing as these little pills are hella expensive (for a pharmaceutical) I wanted to get the most out of them. My dose of sublingual Sub was 2mg/day before experimenting injecting, and I was insufflating (snorting) it. Mind you, I was on 12mg/day only a month and a half ago and getting down to 2mg was quite easy. I also want to state that if you're gonna use suboxone then my advice is to try not to be on it for too long. It has a very strong binding affinity to your receptors (that's why you go into precip. withdrawl if taken too close to opiate use) and the longer you use it the harder it is to come off of because of that strong bond.
Anyways, on to my experience. After reading several threads/posts about injecting Sub I finally gave it a try. I live in Canada so our Sub's are white but have the exact same markings as your orange ones and have a disgusting lemony taste to them. I took half a 2mg Sub (2mg bupe/0.5mg nalox cut in half is 1mg bupe/0.25mg nalox) and crushed it up then dissolved it in water by mixing it around WITHOUT heating it up. Then after waiting about a min for the filler garbage to settle on the bottom I took a tight cotton filter and sucked it into the syringe by putting the tip on an angle and pressing onto the cotton so it sucked up slowly. I then cleaned the filler junk off the bottom of the little metal cup and squirted the liquid I had in the syringe back into it the cup. Again, I waited a min or so for whatever was left of the filler to settle and sucked it back up through a NEW tight cotton filter. The resulting solution should be translucent and not cloudy AT ALL. If it is then you need to filter it again.
After injecting it I can't say I got a big rush or 'high' out of it, but I did feel something. It wasn't unpleasant but rather almost like some sort of anti-depressant cuz I just felt like I was in a good relaxed mood. I've never tried injecting a higher dose than 1mg at a time so I can't tell you if it would cause a greater positive effect or not. My objective is to keep steadily decreasing my dose till I'm finally, and I hope permanently off everything, so I really have no reason to abuse it. The naloxone didn't do anything because I had no opiates in my system for quite a long time now, and the buprenorphine is an opiate agonist, so therefor not a pure opiate for the naloxone to act upon. Plus, bupe binds so strongly that I don't think naloxone could kick it out of its receptor if it wanted to.
I know people have been asking the question; Is it ok to inject Suboxone? I wanted to write about my personal experience with this in hopes to better inform people on the how and what of injecting Suboxone. There's alot of information out there and some can be misleading, which is why I enjoy reading about personal experiences, as I'm sure many of you do too.
Anyways, I hope that helps anyone thinking or scared of using Sub in this way, and if anyone has any specific questions I'll be happy to answer them.
Cheers.
