Harm Reduction Increased Alergic Reaction to Morphine IV with continued use (pic)

I have been on a morphine kick for about two weeks now.

This morning prepped 60mg of morphine IR. Did a double shot because of the rigs I am using, 31g BD 1/2cc. Both syringes were brand new, both drew up from the same mixture, shot simultaneously to obtain maximum rush, one in each vein on the inside crook of the elbo.

Everything was sterile using 90% Rubbing alcohol, rush was solid -- pins and needles, high very strong (can barely keep my eyes open). The rush lasted 2-5 mins, after I could lift my head off the pillow I noticed my arm having a much larger than usual alergic reaction localized around only one of the veins.

I am used to seeing a smll localized inflamation after a morphine shot (1/4"x1/4"-1/2"x1/2") but this was much larger (4"x3") and positioned upstream (towards my heart) immediately after the injection site.

Picture is from 5-8 mins after injection.

Question: Can the severity of my allergic reaction to morpine IV increase with use?

To treat, I orally injested 150mgs of diph, and poured 50mg diph powder into 100ml water and used as a topical aid. 45mins since injection, swelling has subsided by 80%, though I am very high and nodding hard now b/c of the diph i needed to take + lack of sleep the night before.

Many people get allergic reactions at the injection site. Histamine is released and causes some inflammation and white discoloration. It goes away after a little while if that is what it is...

That is what it is, but what I am asking is if the reaction progressively gets worse with the longer the duration that you use. I have also been at this dosing (60mg) on each use for the last two weeks, so this is not the result of a larger dose. My other question is why did one vein react and the other did not, even though they were both practically setup identically

you eventually become tolerant to the histamine release in most cases. i do at least.

why don't you try popping an antihistamine before doing the morphine. something OTC like benedryl, diphenhydramine, promethazine, etc, etc.

to avoid sedation from antihistamines take the 2nd generation ones instead of what i listed above as they don't cause any further sedation.``

Ok, I took benedryl (diph) after I saw I was having the reaction, I have an RX for it to use as a sleep aid, but its a little strong when I am otherwise just trying to experience a specific chemical (I am not one of these "I took 10 xanax bars and 15 perc's am I high guyzz?!?!?"). I also have a script for RX strength claratin, and while I have thought about using it before hand, I have also not had a histamine reaction this strong ever to warrant that... but I guess there is a first time for everything.

Like you said, I expected my tolerance to the reaction to increase with prolonged usage, so that is why I made this posting. Asking for help in identifying anything else it could have been is almost a futile trolling exercise :! that since I am not in a clinical setting, 1000 other things could have gone wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to reply back to my post, and from now on I will probably start with some claratin and go from there, who knows maybe even the placebo effect alone will be enough to prevent it in the future.

Yeah, a know quite a few people who get a histamine reaction from morphine or diacetylmorphine. Diphenhydramine is pretty effective, I'm sure you'd be fine with pretty much any other anti-histamine as well.
