If the jam and electronic genres have anything in common, it's what they ask of the audience. The listener has to lose themselves in the music for a while, hoping the band will help bring them back to earth.

It's no mystery that the jam and electronic scenes have been influenced by drug culture. Only now, the music has become the drug. EOTOs live show attempts to mimic those altered states — the kind that puts one in outer space, or at least abducted and en route.

EOTO — comprised of Jason Hann and Michael Travis of Boulder, Col., jam band The String Cheese Incident — transferred the jam band aesthetic and the skills found therein to a live, 100-percent improvised dance show emphasizing free-form, live mixing, and looping techniques. Every night, a different show. Every show, a different party.

Their stage performance is more DJ than drum expo. Travis mans his MacBooks, using Ableton Live software, midi keyboards, a sampler, and occasionally, a set of bongos. But the live drum playing by Hann is integral in this equation. He jams with a variety of influences and a breakneck pace that would have other bands opting for a drum machine.

* EOTO
100% Live & Improvised Dubstep/Electro/House

Throbbing bass and thudding beats are the signatures of this project from drummers Michael Travis and Jason Hann. Born out of their shared love of electronic dance music, EOTO’s M.O. is to take the free-wheeling party vibe of a DJ set to the next level by using organic instruments, innovative performance technology, and uncharted musical exploration. Live drums, guitars, and keys, and vocals are mixed, remixed, and sampled on the fly using cutting-edge programs. This is all done without a script, and without a net.

* Kodama
Dubstep/Electro

With nearly 10 years of DJ experience, Kodama’s musical preference has touched all spectrums of electronic music. Performing under a life-long nickname, Kodama embodies the exuberant and jovial tendencies of the mythical tree spirits he shares a title with. These characteristics, paired with a healthy dabbling in many sub-genres of electronic music, come together to produce an invigorating symphony of sound.
