In 2002 I detoxed of methadone cold turkey at around 135 mg and it took close to year b 4 all felt better. Suboxone wasn't even around at the time so no help there. I do have legitimate health problems that are painful. So I was able to obtain 80 mg OC's at the time. But my script would only last me 2weeks at best. I snorted every OC I took. Up to 6 a day. This lasted for 7 years until they gelled up the OC's. I switched over to Opana ER 40mg. I snorted these as well. Then these were gelled up just less than a year ago. I felt I had no choice so now I take 1 and 1/4 or 30 mg per dose of Opana ER BY MOUTH! This all started w the bind I put myself in by not tapering off the methadone. I'm 37 now and want to be free and clear off it all. Can anyone tell me what my withdrawals will be like coming off the Opana ER's. And will it help me at all that I am now taking it only orally instead of snorting it. Btw, I take 3-4 doses of 30 mg of Opana ER each day. Im very consistent on when and what time a day j take my doses. How many days, weeks, etc. I've got a wife and 3 kids and its high time I start living my life the way I had intended! Thanks for your help!

Well, you probably know this won't be easy. Let me say, I have had the unfortunate experience of detoxing from a heavy oxymorphone snorting habit several times, and I also detoxed off of oral opana once. So, you're definitely going to be better off because you switched to oral use, but opana withdrawal is still very, very harsh. It takes about 2 weeks for the brutal physical pain and RLS to stop, and shortly thereafter you'll feel normal again. However, you don't want to do this CT. I deeply regretted not tapering a lot longer than I did (5 days). If you really want to do this with minimal suffering, you'll have to do a slow, 4-6 week taper and also get some meds from your doctor to help you, like klonopin and catapress. It would also be wise to get some kratom, which did nothing for the intranasal w/d, but did help some with the oral opana detox I did. Also, plan on taking at least a week to 10 days off work. There's no way you're going anywhere detoxing from opana. The first few days, getting out of bed will be hard. I'm sorry to be such a bearer of bad news, but this drug is a nightmare to detox from. It can be done though, and if you were strong enough to go CT from methadone, you can do this, too. Good luck, bro, and please go see your doctor for help with this. You'll suffer a lot less if you do.

I forgot to mention, if you ask your doctor for suboxone, you'll be fully functional and can more than likely bypass the suffering and the time off work completely. But subs are notoriously hard to come off of, too. It's a hard decision. Again, good luck with this-you can do it- and I'll remember to say a prayer for you.

you have never tried suboxone??

you have been using opiates for a long time man, i think long-term maintenance on suboxone is your best choice. most users are able to maintain on 1-2mg, and on such dose you dont feel much besides relief from WD and maybe anxiety relief in addition to peace of mind.

it is possible to get clean and stay sober, though it will take SO MUCH work!!! it will not be easy, i have been using for only a fraction of your time, and i was barely able to stay clean a month. i wish you luck man, there is a better life!!

im on suboxone and it is really a god send, i am able to maintain good grades in school and have a seemingly-normal college student life
