Bupe If you spike your sub dose can you take less the next day?

Say for instance you took 2mgs instead of 1mgs, and basically spiked, is it possible to take 0.7mg or whatever the next day? so to make up for the spike.

Also does spiking really have that much of a negative affect? I assumed it was just extending the taper is all, that you can start again except you will need a extra week or 2. But anyways was wondering if you can take less of sub the next day then your usual dose.

Thanks.

I'm not sure you're ready for tapering if you're wanting to spike the dose to feel something...

You can just resume with your taper really easily. Buprenorphine builds up in your blood stream, hence there will still be enough in you if you were to just resume tapering.

Sometimes people increase their dosage of buprenorphine for a variety of reasons, one of which being pain.

qft.

If youre trying to kick opiates there is absolutely no legitimate reason to be IV'ing your suboxone. Any justification of "well I want to get more out of my dose" is bull. If you want more, ask your doc for more, increasing a dosage of buprenorphine is entirely different from IV'ing it.

Sub docs have no problems upping someones sub dosage if they're having cravings (or really for any reason whatsoever, they love upping sub dosages I have noticed). No need to be getting every drop out of your medication, thats not what tapering off opiates is about. Yes its not a cheap medication, it is fairly expensive, but heroin gets pretty expensive after awhile as well.

To address the question: yes, you can. The half life of bupe is longer on average 37 hours, meaning that each subsequent day, even if you maintain your dosage, your blood levels will eventually increase PASTthe dose you are taking

24mgs suboxone sublingually has a half life of roughly 36hrs. in my experience if i dose 3 subs in one day, the next morning i sitll need some bupe whteher its a half or what not, id ont like binging to take less next day, usuaully dont worko ut
