If someone had 6/8 oz of weed stored in a regular dispensary medical container... and then put it in their backpack and stashed it underneath all their books... would you still be able to smell it if you sat a few seats behind them?

that depends on a lot of different things....maybe try spraying a little bit of cologne on the top of the container? that might mask the smell enough

Ummm yeah, they would smell it. Its best to put it in a mason jar, the kind with a rubber seal. Look up rubber seal mason jars on google. They lock the weed stink in so people can't smell a thing.
And seriously, why would you lug that much around?
