You know the type, right?

The only reason I stopped being against drugs is because I learned that their not really bad for you. But there are people out there who use drugs under the false impression that they're harming themselves. It's the mentality of: I can afford to lose a few brain cells

...little do they know, they haven't lost any 8(

The reason I'm starting this thread is because today I was talking to pot-smokers who thought pot killed brain cells (8( )

One of 'em even said to me that the reason you hallucinate on mushrooms is because they induce a fever in you (because "they're poisonous - 'shrooms are poisonous mushrooms"), and people always hallucinate when they have high fevers 8( 8( 8(

(He's never done mushrooms by the way)

These kinds of people get on my nerves even more than people who are against drugs and don't use them, because they believe all the propaganda and yet they use drugs anyway, meaning they don't have any respect for themselves.

People who are against drugs have a good reason not to use drugs, whereas these people don't have a good reason to use drugs :)

I think drugs should be legalized for political reasons, but I still think the majority of recreational substances are damaging (both psychologically and physically) and should be avoided.

Drugs can be bad for you and to say that all drugs aren't is crazy, moderation is the key. Alcohol causes you to lose brain cells and is the equivilent to very mild brain damage, so some drugs i would of thought replicate this. Oh and brain cells start dying slowly from the age of 16 anyway! (i think it is, young at least!)

Other than that yeah i totally agree, especially when doing a lot of other things cause far more harm, i.e being overweight, drinking, not exercising, having a bad diet, smoking tobacco, excessive caffeine, driving like a nutter. The list goes on and most drugs are not far up it if done in moderation and with a harm reduction ethos. It drives me mad how people can bitch at me about drugs when their either mild alcoholics, fat or anything else on "the list"

Im confused with your participation and 2000 posts on the site if thats your attitude. Fair enough thats your opinon just slightly confused.

I know the type alright, they annoy me just as much. Why don't they get that we do drugs to improve our lives and not destroy them?

its not so much the fact that they think they are killing themselves and still doing it (i smoke cigarettes), i have no problem with people like that. if they want to live fast and die young, eat hamburgers with untold numbers of chemicals, and drink till they cant walk straight daily (which some of my friends do) thats their business.

but the ignorance really pisses me off.

Yeah, certain things they're abusing aren't nearly as bad as they think.

I think i now fall into this category. I know everyones going to flame me - go ahead but il tell you my personal reasons for feeling this way.
Il also add i dont push my opinion onto anyone.
I dont believe i have any right to influence peoples decicions and & i dont really want to.

Mdma/meth are the drugs that i am talking about too. After 3 years of using these on a regular bases ive come to realise that i am not as mentally sharp as before my use.
It has had a permanent negetive effect on me & i believe if a drug can do that, its not worth it, these are my personal feelings, i know there are definate exeptions.

Over the years ive become more depressed than i ever was, i have almost lost my ability to naturally feel emotions like extreme happyness and sadness without the use of drugs. Im always in the mid range.
It has affected my memory - therefore ability to learn. Its known to do this & to think otherwise is ignorant imo.

When i have a break i can feel myself going back to normal. Im feeling things, im remembering things, im quiet skinny, not sickly but when im not doing drugs i get comments like - you look healthy.

Ive only recently discovered this in myself and its hard to accept that & just completely stop something that ive had A LOT of great, fun times with over the years.

Thats why im somewhat against & still do them.

sorry for the long as rant!!

^ Well you at least recognize that the negative effects only persist while your using the drugs. The idiots I'm talking about are people who think they do PERMANENT damage every time they ingest a substance - that drugs are inherently bad for you.

You are thinking the wrong way about drugs if that's the case. Try thinking 'this drug will improve my life' rather than accepting societies stereotypical views on them. Try moderating your use a bit more to and finding other things to enjoy your life with, then the drug use wont become so self-destructive!

umm drugs are bad for you.

pot does kill brain cells.

The toxicity of marijuana has been underestimated for a long time, since recent findings revealed delta9-THC-induced cell death with shrinkage of neurons and DNA fragmentation in the hippocampus.

Do you really think that you do not sustain any type of permanent damage with any kind of drug at all?

It is all dependent on the substance and the quantity ingested. I most definitely think that there are some drugs out there that have the capacity to cause permanent damage. Some drugs are more toxic than others. Maybe you aren't killing off your brain cells but you could be damaging other vital organs, such as your heart and liver.

I am pro drug, but I do not use them lightly or feel that I am invincible. I think that anyone who has the mentality that any drug they put in their body doesn't have any lasting effects is pretty ignorant.

People can die from drug use...I don't know what is more damaging than that.

no, i was first stating that drugs are bad for you (there are no drugs which lack side affects and risks) and my second statement was correcting the errounous statement by the original poster. it was never meant as support for the first statement.

exactly. drugs arent harmless, there is some reporcussion for all of them, whether it be lower sperm count or an addiction that consumes your life. the failure to recognize that is ignorace as well. some off the effects may be permanent and some temporary, but thats the case with everything in life. choose your poison.

Although I'm not saying whether it is wrong or right, the site probably has some bias.

Fair enough( in reply to the seeker), just seem to me you were being anti-drugs though. All drugs have some negative affects, no doubt, just got to use them properly! What I intend to do is every month so on week where i can afford it, is go on an lsd or mdma(or both) binge and then have a month off(or 2, depends on the availability of them) and do the same again.

well what the OP was talking about was toxicity, ie, damaged organs or brain cells

most popular illegal drugs simply don't... eg opiates, pot, benzos, psychedelics
