Hi there, this is my first post on this forum/site, im an addict of some 16-20 years. My story started when I was in second year of secondary school with the usual gateway drug Marijuana, I then progressed into the Rave scene with MDMA and XTC from there I found it much more enjoyable with some land ding gear like Valium or Temazepam, this in turn got me involved with the wrong crowd (as if I wasn't already there) who introduced me to Opiate painkillers like Dihydrocodeine, Morphine Sulphate/ Temgesics etc etc...This went on for a couple of years until I was using every day (opiates) so I went to my doctor who then put me onto my local drug misuse service who prescribed me Methadone (great) but I had only tried Methadone once in the years leading up to being prescribed.

My wife fell pregnant in early 2003 and I decided it was time to get clean so I successfully reduced myself to 7mls and stopped cold turkey. My rattle was as easy as it was ever going to be and I got through it only to relapse 9 months down the line so back to the clinic only to be told there is a 2 year waiting list, this news floored me and I started using huge amounts of opiates until Heroin was the only thing holding me together

10 years on (roughly) and im still on 60mls methadone and 12mg Diazepam (being detoxed from 40mg) and im still dabbling with heroin having short relapses and pulling myself back and doing it again and again. So recently I have been attending NA meetings 3 times sometimes 4 times a week and one of the guys there had done what he said was a highly controversial detox so he said that he would talk to me later about it,

he phoned me later that night explaining he done a Ibogaine Detox which he said cleansed him of his heroin habit in 36 hours 18 of which he can remember as this Ibogaine produces an intense trip whilst cleansing your opiate receptors in the brain and I though wow this is too good to be true and after some research and documentary after documentary I have decided that I would like to take the gamble and go doe Ibogaine detox...

I don't know if there are services which provide this in the UK but certainly Holland and Spain there are centres which do offer this treatment, I was just wondering what your experiences and opinions are with regard to this treatment and if you can point me in right direction of a good treatment service, please help im at the end of the road with drugs I just want to be normal :?

I've no experience with Ibogaine but like yourself I looked into it after hearing about its "magical" properties for opiate withdrawls. All sounds to good to be true doesn't it.

It's growing in popularity though, massively in America, so it's obviously a viable way of detox but I've seen claims of cognitive rewiring and removing the compulsion to use ever again. I don't buy that.. I'm a cynical cunt though, so who knows. Your mate at NA wouldn't be working steps if he had no desire to use at all.

I'm sure I've seen places or people offering this detox in the UK, it's unlicensed so I'd imagine that means that anyone who has access to it can set up shop and claim themselves to be an Ibogaine practitioner? Would that be right? If that is the case I'd be very careful if you choose to do it, where you do it. You'd of read about the potential risks involved with it so you don't want to be handing yourself over to some clown whilst you're delirious and vulnerable.

Here's the Ibogaine MegaThread from PD.

Good luck :)

Definitely an intresting compound for opiate addicts, watched a few documentaries on it and I'm fully convinced that it does have this re birth type element to the experience, and I'm not the look at one source of information guy

Hi guy, Welcome to EADD, I hope you stick around. Sham and Scotch are well informed fellows for your inquiries. Please feel free to ask questions either in your own thread ( this one... ) or PM me. I'll get you the answer, or at the very least a general idea.

I really hope to see you about the place. Good luck lovely.

Sorry but we don't allow recommendations for ibogaine therapy practitioners as that would count as sourcing. Same goes for the forum you recommended as there is a big banner advert for an ibogaine extract product at the top of the page. Whatever one may think of iboga/ibogaine the fact remains it is a drug and therefore we cannot mention or link to any sources for products or services that provide it.

A friend of mine aquired some ibogaine at great cost and asked me to be his sober trip sitter and make sure he was safe.
I agreed without hesitation. I kept note of when he took each pure root capsules etc.
It was the most extreme drug reaction I have ever witness someone enduring over the many hours I spent with him and it was very frightening seeing what transpired.
I will write a trip report later but long story short he took too much in hindsight and he had the most bad psychedelic trip mentally and physically it's possible to have. We made it through day and night and the next day after some benzo's he slowly started to recover and was ok after a few days.

I am planning on doing a flood at home soon. I know, not necessarily advised. Was there any point in which you were concerned for his safety? How did the treatment go for him after the fact? How much did he take? Did he snap out of it? Can you elaborate a little?

well if your planning a flood as you call it at home make sure there it at least one if not more people present to look after you its a very extreme drug from what I witnessed and you will be in no condition to do anything except endure it.
I was very concerned for my friends mental and physical health in the last few hours of the trip. He calmed down after a few benzo's and was able to get fruit juices and stuff into him but it was extreme we were all just relieved he was ok.
no opiate withdrawals or cravings afterwards reported . He has virtually no memory at all of the trip those of us there for the whole thing will never forget it.
not worth it remotely in my book happy for him it worked but that's all I think it's dreadful stuff.

It needs to be done in a clinical setting really, dose depends on weight, you also need to be watched for a good few days 24/7. Definitely not something to be done at home on your own trying to do a rattle. It's serious shiz

Yeah, not a good idea. I very nearly did myself some harm trying to do my rattle on MXE. It was great to start with and then during the inevitable confusion I just kept on redosing higher and higher.

It made me feel that bad I ended up going to score to take the edge off it, as soon as I was capable of moving and working a phone that is. I was still wobbly with other lingering affects the day after..

I think attempting any detox with a drug which alters your perceptions should always be done with a sitter..

I appreciate the concern guys. I will have a sitter and have been preparing for this for over a year, I've done my research and pretty knowledgeable with the medicine. My sitter is well versed in ibogaine and actually has a clinic in Costa Rica. I agree, it should be done in a clinic, but I don't have the money for that and most likely never will. I'm not kicking any drugs or hooked on anything. Trying to fix a brain with a lot of miles.

I know you used to get these kind of claims for LSD with alcoholics and ayahuasca too. I've read all kinds of things from people saying "one dose of ayahuasca and I was cured". It certainly never had anything remotely like that effect on me. The drug wears off and you're back to normal the week after.

I tend to think repeated experience is more valuable than a one-shot - so regular fortnightly doses of mushrooms would strike me as being of more benefit than a once in a lifetime iboga dose.

I've read all those things, ive tried high doses of LSD, DMT( not ayahuasca), Mushrooms etc all in the hope that I'm going to have this epiphany and drop all the drugs that are doing me harm... All that happened was that I got really fucked up =D

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm sure it does for some. Think it's just going to be hard graft for me, no pills or potions are going to save me from me..
