Harm Reduction I.V. w/ Tap Water

Harm Reduction has always been a strong suite for me(apparently not strong enough). I, along with everyone I Know whos ROA is I.V. uses regular faucet water..I have only met a few people who have had infections or the like and they were using dirty water while living on the street, but never have I seen this in person. I have come across it twice this morning and I am a bit unsettled about how much tap I have used.

So I am wondering what information anyone can provide about what they know for a fact to be in tap water. Just in typing this the thought of chlorine going into anyones bloodstream does not seem acceptable. In the last two weeks, There has been problems directly associated with amphetamines, however others which I cant explain(and some definitely imagined) and given that the hospitol released me with good vitals and everything seeming normal(this was yesterday from being electrocuted, not drug related), and this would be good information for anyone with this ROA preference. Also, please no "Stop" or "Cut down", just information on contaminants in tap water. Thanks.
 
Your tap water will be different in every city, and within that, it could vary between neighborhoods. When I lived in New Orleans, it was common for there to be "boil water" warnings in NOLA East because it was the farthest place from the water-treatment plant, so there is more of an opportunity for the hydrostatic pressure to act on the pipes which results in groundwater infiltration.

2 things that are almost definitely in your water are Fluoride and Chlorine, neither of which are all that great to IV.

Here are some links to places where you can buy sterile or bacteriostatic water, additionally, if you are in a big city, you can probably get sterile water at your local needle exchange.

If you're using fresh tap water from the city you've been living in for quite a while there's less risk than using foreign tap water because your body will have a degree of adaptation to the pathogens in the water. Doesn't mean it's safe to inject, but still...

The trace amount of e.g. chlorine and fluorine in a few mililitres ofwater is probably not worth worrying about - your body can handle them. What I would be more concerned about is particulate, and like muvolution said, shitty pipes leading to groundwater leaching.

I've heard of a lot of people using e.g. bottled water to prepare IV shots because it's sterile and fairly pure. Best advice is to get some distilled water or bacteriostatic water.
 
Bottled water is actually pretty unsafe - it is much safer to buy a gallon jug of Distilled Water like what you would use to fill up a car battery.
 
Like mentioned above, one should always use distilled water when IV'ing any substance. Though using tap water isn't always unsafe, it's better to be cautious when administering any substance intravenously.

P.S. Distilled water is incredibly cheap at any local retail store so price shouldn't be an issue

Gimme a break, the shit you are mixing with the water is so much dirtier. Heroin is snuck across the border in mexican's sweaty assholes. Meth is cooked in dirty bathtubs. Tap water should be the least of your worries.

That being said, I do both of them so I am not judging, just stating the facts.
 
Heroin is by and large flown or shipped into the country in 2kg bricks. Maybe you have a huge, sloppy, loose asshole, but I can't really imagine someone putting a lb of dope up their butt.
 
Before I started using micron filters, I would use tap water. I would never use it again now. Buildings which have been around since before the 1970's might have lead in the pipes/plumbing. If you are lucky enough to live somewhere without lead based pipes, this shouldn't be an issue.

You can also go through local government resources to have your tap water tested.

Needle exchanges hand out sterile water for injection, I highly recommend you buy bacteriostatic water if a needle exchange isn't in your area.
 
I still use tap water once in a blue moon and I'm doing fine. Of course I use bacteriostatic water 99% of the time and always micron filter, so I'm sure that helps.

There was some dudes fixing the pipes outside my house in NOLA and after they had gotten through the asphalt and the dirt dug up, this dude reaches down and bends the pipes up out of the ground and starts working on them - Lead pipes ftw!

Me and my mate always used to use water that had been boiled in a kettle with a water filter in it. Never had any problems with that.
 
god the water in NOLA and Baton Rouge was the worst fucking water ive ever seen. Id take a shower and it felt like i was covered in slime literally. I cut my long hair off when i was down there because i couldnt stand the way it made my hair feel. So im glad i never had an IV habit while i was down there.
 
me too man. I had dreads and they ended up saturated with lime and calcium from that shit water... terrible situation.
