Just snorted two bags of dope after eating an 8mg strip this morning at 12. I'm high as a kite...and I've been on suboxone for a month now. What gives? Not that i'm in the least bit upset...8)

12mg a day. 8 in the morning and 4 at night. just took my last two bags and i'm straight nodding.

If your tolerance to heroin was exceptionally high when you were using it, it's possible that the buprenorphine dosage it would require to saturate the majority of your mu-opioid receptors could be above your daily dosage of 12mg.

What were your dosages of heroin like before you switched to Suboxone?

hmm...anywhere from 300mg to a gram a day. when i'd binge, a bit more. but it only went on for 4-5 months.

Four to five months is long enough to cause your tolerance to heroin to be that high. As a result, you have more mu-opioid receptors than normal. Buprenorphine is less effective due to this.

Because of this, you might need more than 12mg of buprenorphine to block other opiates.

I've said this before, and I will say it again. The blocking effect of buprenorphine is NOT that effective at blocking other opiates completely. I was on 16mg at one point for a YEAR and still could get high off a couple of bags. Like the dude said I have heard people say the complete opposite that they didn't feel full agonists for up to 7 days but from my experience and others at my clinic you can still easily get high. At dosages of ~4mg and below the blocking effect basically goes away. I would take 4mg at night, 2mg in the morning and then do a bunch of dope that night and be faded. Again, everyone is different but this is my experience. I think it's been sort of exaggerated by the drug reps to make it seem like it works almost like a vivitrol injection, blocking other opiates, but i've found the blocking effect to not be too great.

Thats CRAZY man, I do half a 8mg sub once and I am not feeling the same high 24-48 hours later. For my FULL HIGH to come back I gotta wait like 3 days.

Shit I"m only on 2.75mg/day now, and if i were to do some other opiates I KNOW i wouldn't feel it.

Thats crazy that you can get high through that, honestly insane to me. Everyone truly does have different biochemistry.

haha, yep...i am very pleasantly surprised. especially now that i know that i can just substitute dope for one of my doses of suboxone and then go ahead and take another suboxone at the next dose, like i have just done.

I'm the same way. Within 24 hours I won't feel any high at all. After that I might get a slight buzz for like 30 minutes, but thats it, unless I took a dose of like 1mg of sub. I don't even mess with 8mg anymore since I don't need that much, and it takes me 3 days to be able to get high after it. Any my mind will play games on me thinking I could take something and get high after 1-2 days, but nope, gets blocked every time.

oh, let me point something out. maybe it has something to do with ROA?! because i snort all my dope. never stuck a needle in my arm.

^ If anything snorting it would make it harder to break through the suboxone. I snort my dope too, and you saw how long it takes me to feel the bupe. Now the question is, how do you take your suboxone?

I took 12mg's of suboxone about a week ago, on a day I was really sick with no connect around.. problem was that it just didn't work. I was still in violent withdrawal so that night, I copped some dope.. The rub was that despite me still being sick.. the bupe still blocked. It took me a day and a half from my last dose of bupe to get back to my normal state where I could get just as high as I normally would.. but that was from 12mg's. I've taken 4mg's and under..where 12 hours later, I'm back in business and I can get as high as I want.

That blows for you Tommyboy..hah. I've heard you say on multiple occasions that you have to wait a super long time before the blocking wears off. Bummer.

why are you on bupe (and now withdrawing) when you got no withdrawal from a years worth of everyday heroin?

could you rephrase? i'm not quite sure i understand. also, i once again did bupe this morning. 4mg. and railed three bags of dope 3 hours later. full effect. something is afoot.

I think he thought you weren't getting WDs from your long heroin usage. Is this true? If so, it'd be weird you are on bupe, as that's usually for people who can't quickly get off H due to bad WDs.

As far as your OG question, I'd just say different people react differently, you're not the very first I've heard of like this. Why are you on bupe again?

i've only gone through withdrawals once cold turkey. i went through normal WD's like everyone. not fatal but unpleasant. i lasted nine days and then relapsed after a meeting with MDMA. right now i guess i'm just using bupe to not get sick when no heroin can be found. i intend to get clean again though. i was clean for a month before a couple of days ago..
