Hi, I tried the search engine and have searched through Google to no avail. I'm just curious if this has ever happened to anyone....
I had two refills remaining for Tramadol (which became a CIV drug last month). I KNOW the refill rules for controlled substances. I had it refilled on Sunday at one branch of Walgreen's because it was just more convenient that day. I had requested it be transferred to that branch after already (accidentally) sending the request to the Walgreen's that I usually use. I had it refilled a day early because of my work schedule and I would run out if I didn't and my insurance denied to cover it so I paid out of pocket (inexpensive).
I just noticed an email telling me that I have a prescription ready for pick up at the Walgreen's branch I had originally sent it to. I thought "Well, they probably realized I already picked it up and returned it to the shelf my now (Tuesday)". I called and it WAS filled and my insurance covered it.
How is this possible? I'm wondering if maybe the original Walgreen's failed to close out the request. I would also assume that when they filled it yesterday (Monday) the system would kick it out because it was just picked up the day before. I thought about picking it up because my co-pay is only $3.00 and I will already have it for next month but I don't want to do anything to cause a problem.
1. Pick it up knowing you could end up in some major trouble if they find out.
2. Tell them you already picked up the bottle from the other one and see what they say. They might give it to you for next month or they might say you don't need that one and you go back to your normal schedule like nothing ever happenned.
I think they might be doing that to me on my Ritalin right now actually. I just got one but i had a doctors appointment the other day and he might have tried sending another re-fill since it was the day after i picked the other bottle up.
Heres what I think happened. Pharmacy 1 had the request in their computer but it was refill too soon and thus not billed to insurance but since was so close to filling time they set it up to be filled on the date the insurance would allow. Pharmacy 2 went into your central (all Walgreens) profile and transfered it but it looked like it had only 1 refill left so thats what they took. You paid cash at pharmacy two. Pharmacy one was then able to bill your insurance because they already had it queued to fill.
I should state that Walgreens does not need to call one another for transfers its all done through the computer, so most likely neither store was aware the other had it.
It also probably didnt show up on the PMP system yet as they were filled so close to one another. Either that or the pharmacists neglected to look, which for tramadol very well may be the case.
Since it doesn't sound like your taking it for fun, don't run the risk of screwing up your insurance. Phone them and tell them that they have made an error and you have already had your script filled.
I would just pick up the other script. If anyone says anything about it you can always say that your wife/husband/significant other must have picked it up from the other pharmacy because they knew it was time and that you weren't even aware of the SNAFU.Most likely you will get an extra script for an emergency stash and no one will ever say anything about it.It was their fuck up after all and it's so easy to explain it away that I doubt you would get in any trouble or get cut off by your doctor.I've been locked up with numerous people who were in there for various forms of prescription fraud and your situation doesn't sound remotely close to anything any one of them did. It's worth a shot and all they can do is call you on it.Like I said, there's a million ways to bluff out of it if they do and with tramadol being a schedule 4(a misdemeanor even with no script) I would say it's worth a shot.I'm not trying to give bad or careless advice.Lord knows I've been locked up enough that I don't wish that on anyone.I just think you would be fine picking it up and no one will probably ever know or say anything to you.But if you feel iffy and nervous about doing it then I wouldn't.Go with your gut instincts on this one.
1) I had two refills left so two separate scripts were filled for same med (technically)
2) Same doctor on all my meds and it is in the Walgreens system that I requested it be transferred
3)I picked it up yesterday and it was the first time they have EVER NOT asked for my I.D. to copy all my info. They started doing that a lil over a month ago when It became a scheduled drug. So, Walgreens kinda screwed up in more than one way. It crossed my mind to remind the girl to get my ID info so she wouldn't get in trouble b/c she is the same girl that usually checks me out....but I didn't
4) I don't really see how I broke any law. They Didn't do their job and as far as they or anyone else knows; I don't know that is would be wrong to pick up a med they refilled again...although I really didn't see it as wrong...just strange
So did you pick up the second script? If your state has prescription monitoring your probably fucked. Playing ignorant won't help the authorities are out for fucking blood on the painkiller script game these days. Keep us updated and if you are contacted about it in any way don't say shit and lawyer up! Anything you say will be incriminating!
I picked it up on Thursday....It had been sitting on the shelf waiting on me for 3 days and nothing flagged the pharmacy in that time. And lets be real here lol.....I am an extremely low risk individual...they have far bigger fish to fry.
I have never been prescribed ANY controlled substance other than for surgery etc. other than xanax and Tramadol (which just became scheduled on August 18th.)
I have had a very small script for Xanax that I only have refilled like every other month and I have only been on Tramadol for a couple months on an as needed basis. It is obvious to anyone who would waste time reviewing my history because I may be flagged, that I am far from a drug seeker/abuser.
And trust me, when I use ANYTHING for fun...it IS NOT gonna be xanax or tramadol lol
Bottom line, Im not really worried, it was just strange. These were my last two refills on tramadol anyways and I don't plan on asking for anymore. Thanks to the Chiropractor my pain has been reduced dramatically
So it looks like nothing bad happened after all. Glad that seems to have worked out for you.
Since the ordeal is over and done with I'm going to close this thread; it has already served its purpose.
RedPilly- if there is some reason why you feel you need this thread re-opened feel free to send me a PM
