Harm Reduction I think I'm overreacting but how dangerous is taking 2000mg apap while being drunk?

Yesterday I got drunk, I started the day with a couple beers, then half a bottle of wine, and 4-5 shots of brandy. At around 1:30 I smoked some weed and passed out then woke up at around 8pm and havent drank anything since then.

I also took some mersyndol throughout the day yesterday, and consumed a total of around 2000mg of acetominophen. I've been taking the meryndol almost daily for the past two weeks, but not really drinking too much in the past few weeks.

Is this a dangerous amount of apap and alcohol to consume in a day? I get really anxious about stuff and know I'm probably overreacting, but just wondering if I should be concerned. I'm not feeling great today, and have felt slight pains around where my liver is, a little naseous as well, and my stomach just feels a little uncomfortable but not sure if this is because of the anxiety.

I went to the the health shop at around 3 today, and got N-Acetyl Cysteine (which is the antidote to apap). So far I've taken two 500mg capsules of the NAC. If I did f up my liver in some way yesterday, how much of the NAC should I take?

Right now I feel mostly fine, just a lot of anxiety which makes me think I'll probably be ok I know most probably I"m just overreacting, I have really bad anxiety, but then I keep reading stuff online like you won't even feel it in the 1st 24 hours if you harm ur liver from consuming too much alcohol and apap.

That is too much. You'll likely be fine, but it only takes some simple bloodwork to get it checked out, so why not?

And oral NAC is fairly useless, as you have to take a metric ton of it (more like in the 40,000mg range) which almost always causes vomiting. If you're not going to see a doctor, the best over the counter thing you can do is buy s-adenosyl-methionine (also sold as "methionine" and SAM-E)

Take 2500mg every four hours until you've taken 10,000mg total. In clinical studies this was as effective as IV NAC, but most treatments typically only help if undertaken within 24 hours of the overdose.

Thanks for the info.

I took 6 mersyndol, so it was basically 1950mg of acetominophen, and it was spread out through the day.

I have slight pain in my stomach and liver. I think I'll probably be fine, but the anxiety sucks. I always get super worried about things when they probably aren't that bad.

If I was going to die from this or say if I did irreversible damage to my liver would I be feeling a lot worse?

The only thing that keeps fueling my anxiety at the moment is I keep reading online that it takes time to die from this and u may not notice anything is wrong. I keep feeling weird sensations but I think it's just anxiety, I tend to get worried about things a lot.

It's just anxiety, you wouldn't be feeling anything until 24-72 hours afterward. The problem is, by that time if you are in liver failure, the only treatment is a transplant.

I'd still get to a doctor immediately if I were you, but chances are that you're fine. Just be careful and don't do it again. Also, one good thing to know is never take anything containing acetaminophen the day after drinking alcohol either, as this is very hard on the liver as well.

Thanks, I think I'll be fine too, I'm really not feeling too bad. My parents r going drive me to a walk in clinic this morning. I'm just feeling slightly naseous this morning, more than yesterday. The slight pain where my liver is and bad feeling in my stomach hasn't gone away. But I think the nausea could just be from not taking the mersyndol anymore, but I wasn't really taking that much to begin with. Will let you know how it goes.

So how much codeine phosphate did you consume daily? 1950mg paracetamol is 4 and a 1/3 of a tablet, that gives ~42.2mg codeine phosphate. I don't think you would get any withdrawal problems after 2 weeks of ingesting such amount of codeine.

You may not be suffering from this single ingestion of 1950mg paracetamol and drinking alcohol but from the build-up of paracetamol in your system if you've taken it daily. Really check it. I almost lost a friend because of ingestion of 15g APAP/450mg codeine but luckily my friend was in hospital at most a few hours after ingestion.

Each pill has 325mg of acetominophen, 5mg doxylamine succinate and 8 mg codeine. I've just been taking two in the morning two in the afternoon and 2 before I go to bed. This is like for the past 2 weeks, I've been taking them just to deal with anxiety.

The doctor told me there's probably nothing wrong with me but the lab at the clinic is closed for the next 3 days so I couldn't get any bloodwork done. She said if I'm still concerned I should go to emergency, but I'm not sure if I should just wait it out.

My parents went out now so I'll probably wait til they come back to decide if I should go to emergency. I still feel naseous and have slight pain on my right side but it's really not too bad.

I remember scoring about a dozen or so 10 / 325 hydrocodone and taking just one too many. I believe that the maximum dose is said to be 1,000 mg of acetaminophen at one time and 4,000 mg a day. I took four of the pills, putting me over the 1,000 mg threshold by just 300 mg and it hurt! It hurt bad, and I had to step outside to puke. I wouldn't recommend taking more than 1,000 mg of acetaminophen at one time, but that may just be me.

Just came back from emergency, the place was packed with people. I talked to a nurse and she said I shouldn't be worried about 2000mg, she said my liver was probably just inflamed from the alcohol. she said I could wait around but it would probably be hours, so I was just like thanks and left.

I took some lorazepam on my way home, maybe will smoke some weed later and just sit in front of my computer, brain just needs to relax now.

im only responding the to the title, didnt read your post but as far as i know its not very dangerous. dont make a habit of it though. alcohol actually has a protective affect toward APAP toxicity.
