My friend has been up for 4 or more days on smoked crystal meth.
He need's to go to sleep, because he has pushed his heart to hard and is suffering from sleep deprivation.
What should i do to help him go to sleep?
and more importantly what do CAN I NOT do to help him sleep, ex: Can i give him sleeping aids like Xanax, Ambien, or anti-psychotics like Seroquel.

I would give NO MORE than 25mg Seroquel. Try giving him half this to start. Seroquel is a godsend when it comes to the situation you've described.

and remember it's anti-psychotics OR benzos, not both.

Does your friend have a preexisting heart condition? (I'm guessing not, he's been up for 96 hours+ on methamphetamine)

I'm not a healthcare professional, but I do have experience with your situation.

The biggest strain on his heart is the methamphetamine combined with your friends complete disregard for their own health by staying up so long, combined with lack of nutrition.

If you're worried, then dose the xanax, The only reason I didn't advise this first is that Seroquel will forsure put him to sleep.

If the meth overpowers the xanax then the xanax would just make him "weird", and not put him to sleep like you're trying to do. I don't think the seroquel would be dangerous though I can see why you're being so cautious. You're a good friend.

There are no problems with dosing atypical anti-psychotics such as Olanzapine and Quetiapine to come down off amphetamines, as they are, among other things, dopamine receptor antagonists.

serequel is used for cocaine and crystal meth comedowns even though its dangourous. just make sure the meth is out of his system. dont give him xanax cuz he will just get high. and ambien is trippy.

Can you explain why it is dangerous, or is this just something you've heard? They will antagonize the dopamine receptor (D2 I believe) and will prevent any dopamine from binding.

The only thing I can think of that may be dangerous is that the dopamine may bind to a degree with 5H-T receptors causing neurotoxicity.

The above is just speculation, so It'd be great if someone with greater knowledge would chime in.

let me make a simple for you. u have somewhat of what you said right. if hes still high off the meth and takes serequel that can cause neurotoxicity and he can overdose. so xanax and ambien are really out of the question. people take them to come off the cocaine crash but its very risky. let his high/rush go away. if its gone and he cant sleep then try serequel. i am not recomending it though. something weaker that can work is benedryl. u can get it off the counter at any grocery store and it should only take 50 mg. please be careful with the drugs. wait for the high to be fully gone. Then try. but again i do not recomentd it. better safe than sorry. if he can get the natural sleep then that'd be great.

^But by what mechanism is this neurotoxicity caused? I have used atypical anti-psychotics in the past during the comedown from amphetamine and cocaine, but never have I used it to abort a full-on high.
