When my first semester ended about a month ago, I had all b's and c's. Feeling kinda dissapointed my friend let me try his rx for vyvanse. I was not taking it recreationally and I dont plan on it. I did not get the euphoric and energized effect like everyone says, it simply gave me the ability to sit down and do mywork, no more no less. I have taken vyvanse about 5 times over the past two Weeks and all of mygrades have shot up to a's. I was wondering how many times a week I could take this med without getting addicted. Thanks .

Vyvanse is a prodrug for dextroamphetamine. If you're taking it daily, you will become addicted.

Taking it one to two times a week is probably the most often you could get away without developing a dependency. However, even with use that sporadic, tolerance to it will eventually show up.

It's more or less impossible to give you a 100% correct answer. If you're using it to study, eventually you'll find it hard to study or work on schoolwork without it, and you'll end up using it more and more often.

It's a slippery slope. Be careful and you'll be able to avoid dependency.

Ive been trying to get an appointment with a psychiatrist to get tested for add, so I wouldnt have to worry about any of this, I could just take it daily

You'll still develop a dependency if you take it daily. Doesn't matter if you have a prescription or not.

As NT has said (a couple times now), addiction and tolerance are a matter in which you really don't have a say (unless it's a consistent "no, thank you" early on in your career - aka stop now). There's no possible way to take a drug that so radically changes your brain chemistry so as to avoid it causing, well, a change in brain chemistry (result of this being physical / emotional dependence to the drug).

Amphetamine-based "focus" drugs aren't something to take so lightly. Dextroamphetamine is halfway between standard amphet and meth...

also

I have taken vyvanse forthe past four days in the morning and need to know how long tostop taking it to not get a dependency on it.

I know both arnt healthy but would you reccomemd adderall or vyvanse. Which is more safe and will help me in school more

If I got a perscription I would have a steady supply daily and wouldnt have to worry about not having any. Sorry I didnt make that clear

It really depends. Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine/l-lysine-dextroamphetamine) is a prodrug for dextroamphetamine. Dextroamphetamine is also known as Dexedrine or Dextrostat.

Adderall is a mixture of dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine. Some people find Adderall to be more effective than Vyvanse/Dexedrine. Personally I think Adderall sucks (more side effects due to the levoamphetamine). Other people find better results with Adderall and don't like Vyvanse/Dexedrine.

Both of them are equally harmful, however.

Right. If you have a prescription you would have a daily dose supply. But you would still get dependent on the drug.

Thank you for your help. I know I will become dependent on the drug if I get a perscription, but it wouldnt matter to me because I would always have it there, (not for recreation) but if I gained a dependence on the drug.without a perscription, there are numerous variables that can potentially keep me from obtaining the drug, and I could go through withdrawls. I dont know if im making any sense to you right now but those are my thoughts.

Yes it does make sense. However, with daily dosing, you will develop a tolerance that much faster and you'll probably end up having to take higher doses later down the road.

As long as you're aware of the risks you're taking. :)
