Stimulants are known to decrease appetite whereas remeron if anything should increase your appetite. And without knowing exactly what they are the stims you're getting from the vitamin store are likely garbage that you don't need. Mental state can also play a big role. I know if I'm super depressed I don't feel like eating much, some people are opposite so there's a lot of variables. Also, you say that you get hungry at night but the only thing you can eat is junk food. Is there a reason for that? Why not replace the junk food with something healthy? It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, it could be as simple as making some tuna salad. If your mom is such a bad cook then learn to prepare your own meals. It's not that hard.
All very valid. In my opinion, most vitamin shops are over priced and sell low quality merchandise. Sometimes I recommend looking there for a few types of supplements because I can't advertise on BL where to purchase better quality. OP, if you're looking for caffeine consider purchasing pure caffeine powder - check the net. This goes for almost any supplement. So many supplement pills are full of binders and fluff, and a lot of unknown ingredients and are often touted as "all natural" which is a bullshit phrase which literally means nothing. Many have their own proprietary concoction listed as an ingredient which could contain anything. Supplements are not regulated like pharmaceuticals- they are not rigorously tested or regulated so they can actually be quite dangerous. Also, many supplement manufacturers use the cheaper non-bioavailabile form of the ingredient so it does nothing but pass through your digestive track. The one exception that I have found is Garden of Life products, they are quality vitamins but those are not what you're looking for.
If you really need an energy supplement and a few cups of coffee doesn't cut it for you buy pure caffine powder and a decent milligram scale. You're much safer going down this route, though I don't understand why coffee wouldn't work for you since it's a known caffine source and easy to make, consume, and acquire.
Nuttynutskin also raises a valid question regarding your hunger at night which I wanted to address previously but forgot. If you find that you're ravenous at night but only craving junk it sounds like there is more to the situation. Do you not care for what you are eating during the day? Also, if you're not hungry during the day perhaps try not eating (unless you get ill) until the evenings when you are hungry.
I have never been a breakfast person and find that eating early throws my whole day off. I seldom eat lunch because I'm not hungry or interested in food at that time. I love dinner and will eat something wholesome at night, and then also have a treat before bed. If I eat food just to eat it is not satisfying and then I usually binge on junk in the evenings. Also, if I force myself to eat during the day that tends to set me up to binge at night, on junk. If I listen to my body and eat when I am actually hungry and have something I enjoy then I can have a nice treat at night that isn't junk like strawberries or a pomegranate and be satisfied. I think there is a mental component to that as I actually get pleasure from eating, so now I always try to make it count and have something I enjoy. I do drink fresh made juice in the mornings and will have protein shakes a couple of times a day.
I have also learned that not eating healthy macro ratios tend to bring on the binge (i.e. Carbs, protein, and fat). Years ago I restricted my fat intake and didn't get enough protein (seldom eat meat) so now I make a point to make sure I get enough healthy fats and protein at every meal. As I am not exceptionally active, I shoot for these rations:
30 - 40% carbs per meal excluding evening snack
30 - 40% protein
30 - 40 % fat
The fat and protein are heavier and take more effort from the body to break down so I stay fuller longer.
Cravings are usually either psychological in nature or brought on by a deficiency (imo). What type of junk are you eating?
