Wow so I was on 8mgof klonopin and 50mg zoloft for 3 months, worked perfectly fine the first beginning weeks for my anxiety and to taper off the klonopin. Now up until yesterday it was giving me EXTREME rebound anxiety. My psych confirmed that many people say it works for a little bit and then you get really bad anxiety, sometimes worse than before.

So I asked her to be put back on Wellbutrin, cause zoloft killed my sex drive, gave me so much anxiety, was making me take 5-6mg of klonopin again. First day of Wellbutrin I notice a complete and utter difference. Which makes me believe from being addicted to coke that my dopamine is depleted, not my serotonin. It also helps for ADHD which I have and I've noticed I remember alot more shit

Then I got my script of klonopin and after that I asked her for a sleep aid cause I can't sleep for shit ever. I always talk jibberish in my sleep and say things and my husband will say what did you say? and i'll repeat the exact same thing. I also roll around and sometime my leg is on is head. She said it's cause my brain is still overactive at night

So she prescribed Sonota. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! I have never, ever gotten this good of a nights sleep. It's like taking a bar kinda, once it hits you, you HAVE to lay down or you'll feel dizzy and lightheaded. I was asleep in 5 minutes.

Does anyone have any experience with Sonota??

Don't draw that type of conclusion because that could be negative for future treatment. There is a "compensation effect" where even if you did mess up your dopamine receptors (adrenal receptors usually go with stims too) a strong enough boost in other neuro transmitters can still cause you to feel happy.
I abused the shit out of my dopamine receptors with meth. Went through several ssris that did nothing and use to tell doctors "I think its my dopamine/adrenal receptors that are messed up". Doctors explained to me how it works, it doesn't really work so directly like that. And it wound up being lexapro for me that did the job, an ssri, after countless years on meth with is known to effect dopamine more than any other drug that exists.

What really happens is some meds are simply not effective, no more no less. And other meds the brain responds to. Doesn't matter what they effect or whether you actually have a depletion, because even if you had normal seretonin and took an ssri, you could still feel a strong "anti-depressant" effect as it raises you from neutral to high. Other people go from low to neutral. But the point is all doctors care about (which they should) is that the med actually works.

Because I'm an example of what can happen when they do. The lex boosted my seretonin so high, just from being so happy for a year I feel my dopamine also went up too. Thats because thoughts themselves are like chemicals when it comes to the brain. And just thinking a certain way for long enough can effect them.
When I stopped lex I had no rebound depression/anxiety. It genuinely just worked. Kept me happy for a year, which was enough to offset my entire depression and get me back on track. So the brain is a very very sensitve mechanism and can be thrown off my very little changes is my point.

Now I no longer deal with depression, I just can't get depressed like I use to it weird. Even off opiates I was fine, so I had no real excuse to use them.

I wouldn't look to deeply into it and never become too bias against certain meds. Because I refused to take ssris for 6 years of my life (after 3 horrible past experiences with them) and an ssri was what wound up working for me.
Whole point being, you don't really have to match ssri to seretonin depleted patient. I hope I explained it well enough, likely not. Its just usually way more complex then that. I'm glad you feel better, sometimes it can literally be just as easy as taking a pill. Just that we are in such an experimental phase with pharmapyschology, that doctors only about 5% understand how the brain works and what they are doing. Wasn't too long ago we prescribed crystal meth as an antidepressant.

Effexor XR ended up working really well for me, fwiw... except if/when I forget to take it. Then I wish I had never started on it ;).

I have used sonata before. It helped me fall asleep but didn't help me stay asleep. And just like ambien, if you fight it and stay awake, you can do things and have complete amnesia the next day.

A friend of mine took a sonata, she faught the urge to go to sleep and got in her car and drove from Jacksonville, FL to Orlando, FL and had no memory of doing it. So be careful.

As far as the other stuff, I don't know much about. Sorry.

thanks B for the reply. i've been on lexapro and alot of SSRIs in general and they just make me sick, tired or more suicidal/depressed. i do give them a shot and SSRIs have just never worked for me. still feeling good taking the wellbutrin, my klonopin dose is 1mg a day, even though i get prescribed 3 just incase. the sonota.. wow

on sonota i got a job at victorias secret over the phone and had no idea about it until my husband told me i had to go in at 4. i was like oh my god, i have no idea who this lady is when i talked to her what the hell just happened. complete amnesia. it put me to bed pretty quick the first time but then i read you could trip on it so i tried doing that with some DXM my husband extracted but by the time he was done it was 6am and i wasn't tripping so i said fuck it and went to sleep

wasted the pills but everyone seems to LOVE tripping on sonota. weird. i'm on it now cause i wanna fall asleep but sometimes it does the adverse affects. so i only take it sometimes now. i'm going to have some ambien soon

thanks for everyones replies though

Hey good to hear your still doing good. When the doctor was about to put me on anti-ds again her 2 choices for me were between lex and wellbutrin. She told me (this was maybe 2-3 years ago) that in her practice they were the 2 most reliable anti-ds she prescribes as far as helping depression. And this was a doctor who knew her shit and had like 30 years experience.

Only reason I didn't go for the wellbutrin was I didn't want to quite smoking and she said it gives cigs a metallic flavor. Thats awesome though girl good for you!! You deserve to be happy.

haha yup everyones favorite everywhere is lexapro and wellby. my dr also knows her shit surprisingly i was saying chemical terms and she knew exactly what i meant. as a registered nures/psychiatrist she's a smart cookie

and hahahaha that's why i was stoked for wellbutrin. i smoked a pack of reds a DAY. now i smoke 4 cigarettes tops if that. it's amazing

and thank you so much i appreciate it:)

Well for your age you're a pretty smart cookie yourself so you guys make a good match. =]

And I'm jealous about the 4 cigs tops, that in itself is gonna make you so much happier/healthier in the long run if you can ever get off the smokes for good. I felt sooo good the year and a half I managed to stay off the smokes, but the binge drinking on the weekends made it too hard to maintain (although oddly I don't drink anymore now).

I love to see you happy though you've got a lot going on for you between beauty and brains and this is something that can really change your life for the best. Keep smiling and keep us updated!! -Bo

I'm on wellbutrin also and it's the only anti-depressant i can really take as i suffer from bipolar disorder and it's the least likely to cause mania. It does kind of wake you up for lack of a better word though until you get used to it it may make you jumpy. That's the case with me now as this is my third day back on it. The increase in sex drive is a nice side effect especially compared to what most other anti-depressants do to your sex drive. I am on clonazepam as well at 4-6mg's a day as i used to have awful anxiety because i went on it.

Sonata is zaleplon and i had it years ago before it was taken off the market here in Canada. It was called starnoc here. For me this medication was awful and even at 2 high dose pills it did not help me sleep but it did make things abit trippy. Not good trippy either more like dramamine trippy though not near as bad.

I had a fondness for coke/crack as well though im primarly a downer freak and IV coke turned me into a wreck for a bit. I can see wellbutrin definitely helping with the cravings since it's a dopamine norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.

Hope the meds continue working for you. Good luck :)

Sonata has a half life of 1 hours so it's good for you if you have trouble falling asleep but not if you have trouble staying asleep. Anyways good to hear you are feeling better.
