I?ve seen my doc almost a year. She knows I suffer from anxiety. Before my truck got stolen in 2016 I was on klonopin from 2010 and I did fairly well on it.

When my truck got stolen I was forced out of my home. I had to move to TN. From there I was yanked off three mg a day. Had two grand mal seizures. I fired my docs and moved back to Oklahoma.

I started to wean off of it. In March of this year my luck ran out.

My current doc knows I suffer from massive anxiety. She also knows I don?t abuse benzos.

I?m thinking about just trying to get back on it. I know the withdrawals are bad but life has been reduced to me just st laying in bed not being able to cope with life.

If your quality of life was better and your physical or mental health wasn't suffering on the drug then I don't see a reason not to be on it.

I take .5mg of klonopin a day usually and have for 5+ years. Just be responsible with it and don't start increasing the dose etc..

Physical dependency and addiction can still take place even if you are not abusing a substance. Your body becomes accustomed to the elevated levels of benzos and attempts to normalize by reducing certain chemicals produced naturally. The body doesn't really care if you "need" it or not; dependency can occur even if there is a prescription or if the drugs were bought on the street.

There are other options besides benzo/anxiety med. The first few weeks to months will be the hardest, but things like cognitive behavioral therapy and exercise can really help. It's also a good idea to address the root cause of the anxiety with a therapist or doctor, depending on the specific nature of the anxiety. Likely it is something more psychological in nature, but there are physical medical conditions, like diabetes, that can really make things harder.

Anxiety is a natural part of life- it is what motivates us. There will always be some anxiety but there is a difference between positive and negative anxiety. It could be as simple as reframing your thought process about a certain subject(simple in concept.. will likely take some time to truly work through). The way we react and feel about things has a lot to do with how we think about things and how we perceive things. Maybe there are things in your life that need to be removed or restructured like a bad relationship.

In my honest opinion, benzos are not a solution for anxiety. They might help people make it through a difficult time or make it past a difficult emotion, but they aren't ever really going to address the root cause. Plus, when you consider that anxiety is a side effect of all anxiety medications.. well I really struggle to see the long term benefit at all.
