To clarify, I am NOT asking for instructions.

I was wondering if it was possible to convert DMT into DPT or DET, since they are very chemically similar. If so, how easy would it be?

Just wondering if it’s worth doing further research on. Thanks

Possible but impractical to the highest degree. One can alkylate DMT with ethyl or propyl iodide, then dealkylate the resulting quaternary salt with thiolate or monoethanolamine, then repeat. N-Methyl groups are more reactive in dealkylations, but the selectivity is not high, and all the products are expected to form an almost inseparable mixture. It is possible to prepare MPT in a reasonable yield, though (information from Demonic at hyperlab.info).

That's not how drug chemistry is done, drug chemists take a dirt cheap useless precursor and turn it into a valued drug.

Loosely put as to not offend the rules, for DPT they buy a kilo of tryptophan for maybe 150 bucks, decarboxylate into tryptamine, then slap on two propyls and take that monkey to Newtown.

Be careful on to how to show instructions. There's already stuff I see here that's not allowed.
Whet isn’t allowed specifically if you don’t mind asking? I’m not trying to cleverly dodge any rules or anything and don’t want to break any in the future

Dude, I'm amazed at what you just answered . Where or how do start to understand all that chemistry talk ? What the hell is mpt 😁 . Maybe I'm in the wrong place .
