Hello everyone, first time poster here but I have a question that I think only I folks would understand, so here goes…
Can I ask or how can I ask my dr to prescribe me oxycodone instead of the hydrocodone (norco) she already prescribes me monthly. I know it’s a slippery slope and I’m even lucky to get the hydrocodones. Any advice is appreciated.

Just tell your Dr you are not getting the relief you deserve for your pain he/she will either up the dose or change to a stronger script.
Patience and persistence

Chances of him giving you oxycodone based on your request is slim to none. Especially in the absence of any change, ie. injury, and so on. And in general, asking a doctor for specific drugs that happen to be controlled substances is often interpreted as drug seeking behavior, as unfair as it seems. This is coming from someone who knows many doctors and worked in a hospital setting for about 30 years. I would consider yourself lucky that the doctor continues to regularly prescribe the hydrocodone. In general, doctors of all types are avoiding prescribing opiates as much as possible.

If PCP get a pain management doctor. Just tell whoever that the hydromorphone isn't giving you the relief it once did. Plus add in a new pain or two. Lol. Just tell him/her that you've heard good things about oxy and so did some research and it sounds like the med you need. Its not like the doctor will cut you off just for exploring it. Good luck
