Hydrocodone A/B Extraction weird color change

Hey guys this so my first time posting and I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place but here it goes. I was planning on freebasing hydrocodone to smoke it but it didn't turn out right.
Steps:
1. Crush one 7.5 mg hydro in mortor and pestle
2. Mix with ice cold water
3. Vacuum filter
4. Basify with concentrated sodium hydroxide solution
Here is where I was expecting the hydrocodone to start precipitating out and I was just going to filter and wash the hydro crystals. It wouldn't precipitate out so I added a shit ton of solution and a tablespoon of pure sodium hydroxide to it. Still no precipitate so I decided to try to pull it out with naphtha. I assume naphtha isn't a good non polar solvent for freebase hydrocodone.
5. Added hydrocodone/sodium hydroxide solution and naphtha to sepratory funnel
6. Shook up and noticed bottom layer turning purplish red maybe brown color.
7. Drained layers separately and added solution back into sepratory funnel with more naphtha.
8. Shook up again and noticed the bottom layer had turned grayish blue.

Anyone know what happened specifically. I assume the hydrocodone reacted with the naphtha somehow. But I want to know how. Thanks

We dont allow synthesis discussion and as this is beyond the typical CWE I am going to close it.

Also hydrocodone isnt going to react with your nonpolar solvent. Also you would need to work with a bit more then 7.5mg to see much of anything crash out... The whole thing sounds futile and i would be hesitant to try it at all.
