Jus wondering from probably some slightly more experienced people about what they thought of Human Traffic. Personnally I saw it quite a accurate representation of the scene and drugs, only with a slight tinge of that movie gloss. Some people have disagreed with me and said that it's depicting a totally wrong scene but they have to remember it is set in pommeland. Just wondering what others think

find me on icq search for munkE
well personally i thought that while i could relate to lots of the drug use and the culture surrounding it eg spliff politics and the d+ms while cutting up lines, the music scene it portrayed is not at all like the one most of us inhabit.
but then i suppose its not a movie about melbourne rave/rs

AAAAAnnnnyyyywaaaayyyyy.... back on topic
I think Human Traffic was accurate as far as what goes on b4, during, and after a party goes. It does tend to glorify the scene a little, but it more or less accurate as far as I can see... I remember Spiral saying she wasn't too impressed with it, tho I can't remember her reasons why... something about it "profanising" the scene, whatever that meant... The music and the clubs weren't accurately presented tho, too small and crowded.

Tars: Methinks that's what clubs are like in Old London Town.
I think the movie is quite accurate in showing the London scene. From what I have been told, they are pretty mental and it sounds like that is the way they party. (The way it is depicted in the movie.)
I remember my sister telling me how different it is over there. About how you've got no room to dance, but you get used to it

I also remember a story of one of the guys she knew taking 7 or 8 of the ORIGINAL White Mitsi's one night... But there's too many stories, so I'll shut up now

Yeah, the movie seems accurate from what I've heard about London...

one thing i thought the movie did wellwas giv you the good and the bad...
like when they (main group) r all driving round in their car, pretty colours, good fun, (as wholesome as taking drugs can be). it showed that E can just b a good time with friends..
but then it also showed that other car, with the crazy guys in it.. and that chick's little brother. the car was all dark and the guys we're a little too fucked.. that showed you the bad/crazy side of E...
but man.. when the dude stood up at the table with his parents------
"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU PEOPLE???!!??!!"
i could relate just a little too much for my liking...

if the journey's fun, it's well worth taking.

yeah it was a good movie, seemed accurate to me. But different to here in Sydney. Pretty funny movie. Who can relate to that Star Wars conversation?!
Peterpoppa, i think Trainspotting was set in Wales. Or am i just totally stupid.

trainspotting was set in Scotland
Human Traffic was based in London...I think.
Anyway, i really dont mind that it wasnt 100% accurate, I thought it was a good laugh and i'm off to the video shop to hire it out again

Oh, and apperently the club/music thing WAS infact very accurate. In 2 months time I will be able to tell you all

I loved Human Traffic, and while there were things that may not have been accurate in depicting the scene over here, I thought it was a pretty fair representation. And damn funny too!
When they were sitting at the table doing lines or whatever, and they both start telling each other how fucked they are (size of the pupils and shit) it just cracked me up. Everyone always says that to me, cause my pupils have a tendency to go so big, there is almost no colour left. They are naturally big anyway, so when I am under the influence it is much worse.
Gotta love those memories!

I can totally understand Voodoo Chile about the "your fucked" sequence. I think that almost anyone who has tried anything has said that before. I think that it has got enough different things about different drugs that a lot of people can relate to these experiences like spliff politics. Also maybe even people that don't drop or party like this. If you look into it it has a lot of both accurate and innacurate representations of people around this age. I'm sure a lot of us can relate to things like that crappy job that the girl has with the freaky manager and other things. Sorry sort of off on that different tangeant.

I have to admitt I didn't really bother to compare it to reality...
I liked the movie - it entertained me... and managed to take a perspective on drugs and clubs that is rarely seen in a major release flick...
I'd see it again... mmm, might go see if there are any copies in now...
