Hello,

I'm looking for some advice regarding herbs and HPPD. I've had HPPD for over a year now, and unfortunately I have recently experienced a substantial increase in symptoms. I would like to treat my the disorder, or at least the DP/DR and anxiety that result from it, with some all natural supplements. I would be very grateful of any recommendations.

Specifically I have been looking into St. John's Wort and Rhodiola Rosea. I like these because they have been used for thousands of years and are famously "magical" and all that good stuff. However, I'm also skeptical because I realize St. John's Wort acts much like an SSRI which probably isn't good for my healing 5HT receptors, and Rhodiola Rosea also interacts with serotonin to some extent. Although, I believe it does so indirectly through precursors, which I wouldn't be worrying myself with this (in that serotonin interactions shouldn't necessarily be feared) if I hadn't read another forum where someone complained about it upsetting their anxiety. I'm not worried about a little anxiety if St John's and Rhodiola help my mental health in the long run. Does anybody have any experience/advice they'd care to share?

Thanks.

I have some experience of Hypericum perforatum but not Rhodiola rosea. Ginkgo biloba, Avena sativa and Passiflora incarnata are all very good and may be used to reduce anxiety alongside or separate from Hypericum (St John's Wort). Valerian may also be used to reduce anxiety.
