How young were you when you first thought about drugs?

Seriously now, how old were you the first time you thought about drugs. It can be in any ways, whether self-destructive, creative, personal, elightenment...

I was about 7 years old at the time and I was watching TV with my parents. I remember seeing a show about drugs. They talked about a bunch (don't really remember too clearly) but the ones that stood out were Hallucinogens. I remember thinking "why would seeing things that aren't really there be a bad thing? that looks kind of fun." Anyways, I remember going to the store with them maybe like 4 or 5 weeks after that and seeing those little sugar candies that come in different colors, usually rows of 4 or 5 across and several feet in length all rolled up. Immediately I thought to myself "Wow! That's what I saw on TV!" (I remembered them showing pictures of all sorts of microdots while I had been watching that show) My mother bought me the candies which I immediately devoured. To my disappointment I never saw anything other than my color stained fingers... I was more or less hoping to "see" something... a smurf at least!

Anyone else like to share?
 
4th grade, i got a DARE book at school that had color photos of all kinds of drugs along with descriptions. pcp made me interested because of the false description of being superman etc (we all know how DARE exaggerates). anyway, thanks dare for getting me interested in drugs...exact opposite of what they are supposed to do.
 
I think it must've been when I was around 12 that I frequented a rap website and I would have conversations on instant messanger with this guy who would tell me all about OxyContin, I had no idea of the concept that the drugs a doctor gave you could make you feel different. I went and reported to him that my dad had hydrocodone and he told me I'd have to take six pills to feel anything (true) and I had them in front of me, and I just freaked out and decided not to do it because I was afraid he'd notice the ammounts.

For some reason now, I'm also having a distinct memory of seeing fake snow (forget what this is called) that is associated with acid falling from my bedroom ceiling with little sparkles and wierd little trips like that. It was just today that I heard about that part of an acid trip, and it struck a note.

I was ALWAYS against drugs until i hit middleschool. Then some of my friends started smoking pot. I still thought drugs were horrible then, but after some convincing by my friends they got me to smoke pot. And i didnt stop for 3 and a half years after that. Now I hate pot because its more of a sleeping aid than anything for me. But I LOVE psychedelics and ecstasy now. Theyre such good things. You come out of every trip with 10 times more than you could ever get from any therapist or any person. But drugs that ruin peoples life I am HIGHLY against. Tweak and crack in particular.
 
i watched this animated movie about why you shouldn't do drugs when i was about five years old and it scared the shit out of me, i would like to find that movie and watch it again someday after actually having done drugs. all i remember is it had disney characters in it and this kid that started doing drugs. there was one scene that showed how he would end up if kept doing drugs. wow, back then i thought id never do drugs and here i am today having experienced drug addiction (although only to weed, it was still an addictionf or me).
 
I was prolly in 3rd grade and i read a article about some girl who started smokin weed and they made it sound so bad. like in that serious tone "soon she was no longer smoking out of joints or even pipes. she graduated to smoking out of a 6-foot bong which was a long pipe used to hold huge amounts of smoke" and etc.

it was one of those "ooh its bad...i wanna do it" things

I always in my head wanted to try heroin doe just cuz it wa supposed to be so bad that it attracted me. i never thought of actualy takin the step and doing it til i was bout 12 doe. but being younger secretly wanting to somehow someday be crazy enough to take the step of slamming dope (thinking this at age 10 or 11 prolly)
 
I think I was like 11 when I got "Black Sunday", I think it just came out. The booklet that came with it listed all these things about marijuana that were myths and showed a lot of referenced facts and just seemed really convincing in a "THEY LIED TO YOU, MAN!" kind of way.

I had hit puberty and was all rebellious at the time so I got extremely interested in this mary-juana thing B-Real seemed so in love with and the government seemed to hate so much =D

After that I did more research and basically became convinced adults were full of shit in general.

I believe I was 11 and it was in D.A.R.E. I couldn't comprehend if something was so dangerous why people would do it? I mean it had to be worth it, right? I have wanted to try MDMA since about that age however I still havn't tried it. I'm planning on "rolling" on my last day of senior year (this year).

I was never interested in weed I guess I didn't really ever care about stigma?
 
I remember when I was in 10th grade we had one specific class involving drug use and all that crap, and the teacher asked us to name all the drugs we knew. Boy, I sure had fun doing that. I really went overboard though. People were definately suspicious of me after that class. Naming shit like 5-Meo-AMT and the likes.
 
This isnt actually the first one but its the most memorable. . .

I was in grade school and we were in D.A.R.E. class watching this video (I'm sure you've all seen it) about different teenagers telling their stories about their drug use. Each teenager liked a different drug, there were some pot heads, one loved meth, one liked banging heroin, and then there was a raver girl who was talking about ecstasy and THAT was where it all began. . . I was thinking, that looks like so much fun.

That anti-drug video sparked my curiosity for drugs. I was like 10-11 years old or around that age.

After they talked about the drugs they liked to do, they showed a catscan (?) of the teens' brains next to a drug-free brain. That part scared me, but I was still ever so curious about all these drugs that had just been explained to me. They were things that I'd never heard of before, and I wanted to see them and try them.

This sticks out in my mind as well as being CRAZY:
Around the same age, (10-11 years old) a D.A.R.E. officer actually brought a ten-strip into our class to show us all what acid looked like. It had pictures of Woodstock on it, and I remember thinking "WOW I really really want to try this some day" and ever since that day I thought about drugs more and more.

I don't really remember but I guess it was around 10 or 11 pretty much as soon as school started crapping on about how bad it all was I started thinking it didn't sound that bad after all...
 
5th grade I remember it perfectly... Conversation with the DARE officer:
So weed... thats marijuana...right?
Yes, son that it correct.
And grass... thats... marijuana as well?
Yes. son.
And Bomb, too?
Yes.
Dope?
Yes.
mary jane?
Yes.
And getting 'high' is consuming Mary jane?
MOVING ON...
He had gotten irritated with me by the second piece of drug slang. I guess that program really isnt there for the children. Haha.
 
I remember proudly telling a teacher when I was 9 or 10 that the only drugs I'd ever do were LSD and marijuana 8)
 
I was 10 or 11, watching some ex-junkie talking about his past. Immediately I wanted to be like him.
Didn't take too too long after that........
 
I've thought about this a good bit, because I remember different times throughout elementary school when classmates would joke about me being a druggy, although I didn't do any drugs other than try smoking pot once or twice. I think it was in 3rd or 4th grade though DARE and all the other anti-drug propaganda being shoved in the face of everyone that age.

I do remember the DARE officer bringing the drug dog in the day after I'd tried smoking weed with a friend's brother and being all wigged out about him smelling weed on me, heh.

ahahah.....what was their response?

I was facinated by drugs from a really young age, I honestly can't remember how old I was when it began. The first drug I tried was some weed I pinched from a friend's dad when I was about 11, but I'd been wanting to try it - and heroin for some reason, I assume because it and marijuana were the drugs I'd heard most about - for years beforehand. I also vaguely remember concocting a lame plan to steal the poppies from some poor old woman's garden because I thought they'd be filled with opium....I was about 10 at the time and thankfully never shamed myself by following through 8(
