How To LIGHT SHOW

Recently rolled for the first time, took one blue tab at 10:30pm, followed by another one chewed and swallowed at around 1:30am.

Spent the whole night giving light shows, even though it was my first time rolling and i've never done it before.. most said I was good, espec for the first time rolling.

Anyone have any tips/cool shit for lightshows?

One thing I wasn't sure about was when there was a slow beat in the song for a long period of time.. usually when it got slow I would slow down the show and get a little bit closer to they're face, and more methodical, and then when the beat came back, or the music sped up I would jump into that.

Any suggestions? =D

EDIT: This was @ a club/rave

You can have good light effects even if you are rolling at a house with friends or at a party so you dont always have to go to a rave or a club to enjoy ecstasy.

A really nice light effect is as follows I suggest you try it!:

Get music and your fellow rollers into a pitch dark room or as dark as possible. Get 2 clipper lighters (the ones that use a flint) just flash them to the music without pressing down on the gas. Get up close to your friends and flash it in your face and their faces to the rythm of the music. And dance like a mad bastard. It is great fun and looks fuckin crazy. This works even better if everyone has at least one clipper, even better if you all have two.

Enjoy :)

I have a good tip for ya:

Dance how you want to! Go with the flow!

dj_kid: will do

don: not sure what the flinters really are??

dxm: pretty much what I did last time!

the key to giving a good light show is loosing your audience , when they sit there and look at you like your one of those magic pictures with the hidden picture your doin a good job , if you dont know what i mean then your not , good light shows are fuckin awsome and few , trick your audience into lookin at the stix then suprise them with your face in thiers , gets em everytime

I tell ya what we do....in my kitchen, we have two mirrored doors going to the laundry. We sit facing them with someone between us and the mirrors spinning strings. You don't even have to be good at it, just the mirrored effect....Wow, does it make you stuck.

recently at the dollar store we have been picking up on these glow bracelets that can turn into a globe. Once in globe form I tie some strings up to them and use them like giant yo yo's. The color combonations are sick and you can intertwine the glow sticks to form different types of globes. I sugguest a trip to the dollar store before hand to get lots of sticks.

my best suggestion is to leave for a summer and go raving. i did it when i was 17 and it was a blast. thats when i learned everything i could about poi and glowsticking.

hope you find your way -JRod

I'm 17 now.. where did you leave to? Me and brother (who is eighteen) are planning on going to europe this summer. Should be fun :)

How do your turn glow bracelets into a globe? Are they bracelets that connect aroudn your wrist and you just connect a whole bunch.. or am I completely missing the point?

well im a purist. i really dont like all these new-fangled devices which do the work for you. i used to hate the 16 yr old newbs with photons that dont have the skills to make 2 glowsticks move as one

well i still hate the newbs, but i've grown an appreciating for the photons when mastered

for light shows specifically, i think the best advice is to try to give the person a seizure without actually making them have one. meaning dont just shove the lights into their face every 2 seconds, but mix it up and put them close when they aren't suspecting it

oh and another neat trick. when a hot girl is rolling balls, incorporate a kiss or stroke their neck - something affectionate. they wont mind, trust me

for sure bowdenta.. already figured that one out ;)

probably about 80% of the girls i light showed ended up pulling me on top of them 8o

youtube does have some nice material but it also has some videos I would label as "how to not glowstick"..people just flailing their arms around like apes. If it is fun go with it but I assume you are asking how to have some method to it...

Well I can tell you a bit of the free hand glowsticking, since that is something I've fairly well versed in. Its all about keeping a consistent flow going...meaning don't slow down or speed up, just keep a consistent movement going at all times during the music. Play with people's eyes. When the music slows down, keep your hands further apart and when it speeds up have them cross each other's paths out to form some cool tracers that flow into each other.

One thing to keep in mind is that you are not so much trying to make your lights dance but form some wicked tracer patterns. Use your imagination. If you don't know how to glowstick then start out with crossing your wrists over each other and then expand out to the arms and just follow the music.
