RCs How to distinguish between bath salts?

If I buy three different kinds of "bath salts", how would I know if they were the same compound or different compounds? Any way to tell between 6apb, mxe, mpa etc?
 
You would know by not buying a unidentified powder and ordering the pure chemicals online. There is no other way to be sure what you're taking. Also I don't think MXE is typically sold as a bathsalt.
 
I'm traveling and don't have an address so it's not an option to get it shipped. I've seen MXE sold in a couple of online places as bath salts, but thanks for the heads up
 
Shy of owning some highly sophisticated, state-of-the-art drug testing equipment, you have no chance of knowing what you've got. After all, bath salts are not a group of drugs; the word is merely a euphemism, just like "plant food", "research chemical", or "herbal incense". If you brought it from a legit vendor ie not an illegal dealer, chances are it won't have any of the really juicy chems. (mephedrone for example). In future, I'd say you should buy the pure chemicals from trustworthy RC vendors; these "branded" bath salt formulations sold by headshops are grossly overpriced, as they are cut with useless fillers.
 
The only way I guess is the worst way: try them all individually and compare to your previous knowledge of mentioned substances.

This is not a recommendation, just an answer to a question which can't really be answered definitively.
 
ill tell a great one is pentedrone.. areal coke/speed buzz of it.. and its a clean type.. u get sum whack if u iv it.. im sure der are better.. but avoid metylone.. its dirty rotten shit.. horrible skag of it

Methylone is one of the best MDMA-alternatives out there and definitely way better than Pentedrone. There is a reason why it is illegal compared to a lot other shittier Cathinones (like Pentedrone). Its only negative aspect is the short duration.
So I doubt you have had real Methylone.

OP: Like already stated, get a Marquis reagent test kit and don't buy branded "bath salts". Some of them only contain Caffeine and Lidocaine for a numbing effect. Is that worth 20$+? I don't think so^^
 
A combination of chromatography, spectrometry, and/or NMR is the only way to truly know for sure. IE: pricey chemical tests.

Reagent tests will get you "in the ballpark" and are much cheaper, but will not allow you to make an exact identification in many cases (especially if the bath salts are a blend).

6-APB and MXE are relatively expensive chemicals. It is unlikely that this will appear in a branded bath salt in my opinion.

Ecstasydata, the only site in the US that I know of that will test consumer-submitted street pills, occasionally will show branded bath salts. The most recent batch from Spain had cathinones like buphedrone, pentedrone, and 4-MEC. That's an example of what is "more likely".
 
The best method for the lay-man will be TLC plus Marquis/Mecke/Mandelin stains.

This is substance ID, though, and we don't allow that. Don't encourage the people who make "bath salts".
