ok so last night i took 1 xannax bar and 5 beers, the a couple of bumps of coke, followed by 1 more bar of xanax. the xannax didnt hit me too hard kind of just kept him in a nice mellow state. my question is though, if i took 2 xanax bars tonight (who haden't taken xanax months before this occasion), how long would i have to wait to take 2 more xannax bars and get the same effect?

i dont use xannax regularly at all. probably a couple of times every few months. so yeah, based on the info provided how long will i have to wait to get the same effect off 2 xanax bars? like a few days? a week or? please let me know so i can tell my friend the best advice.

thank you

We don't use SWIM here so please kindly remove the SWIMs from your OP as it will detract people from answering.

If you don't use xanax regularly then you should get similar effects pretty soon after your last use because of the short half life that alprazolam has. If you kept up taking 2 bars a day for a while then tolerance would build and you would have to wait a decent amount of time longer before you could expect to feel the same/similar effects from it.

ok fixed, sorry about the swims i wasnt sure. but yeah i dont use xanax regularly so you think within a few days i should be able to get the same effects as i did last night?

The half life can be up to 12 hours with xanax but could only be 6 hours, so if you took 4mg then after 24 hours you will only have between 0.5mg and 1mg left in your system. After 48 hours the amount left in your system will be so low that taking another 4mg will most likely have you feeling the same way that you did the first time.

I have to say though in the name of harm reduction that I don't recommend taking relatively large doses of xanax mixed with large quantities of alcohol. Be carefull with your use and make sure you don't carry along a load more xanax wherever you go, or if at home then hide the ones you don't want as it is very common to just keep on munching.

Regardless off the half life of the substance xannax is in the benzo classification of drugs and isn't something to take lightly. When recreational using xannax bars you run the risk of having a seizure if you do it for a couple days then stop cold turkey. I am prescribed 100 xannax 2mg bars a month for anxiety and was taking up to 2mgs a day for a month straight every night to help with sleep and restlessness. I quit cold turkey because I read up on the side effects and how benzos are very harmful and addictive. Therefore my dumb ass quit cold turkey after having it in my system for a month straight and on the 2nd day I had my first 'new on-set seizure causes unknown.' The doctor didn't find any benzo's in my system when I had my drug test in the hospital and I didn't tell them I was taking xannax which was a big mistake because I had another seizure doing the same thing. It's something you have to take with precaution and if you are just taking it once a month or so while drinking you should be fine, but to be safe I would take like a half the next night just to slowly ween off a high dosage you have previously took.

I agree that long term use, or even medium/short term use of high doses of any benzos runs the risk of seizure on stopping, but I think that the risk is most likely less than 0.0001% when just using them for two days in a row and then stopping unless the person has an extremely low natural seizure threshold.

I wouldn't recommend taking a smaller amount the next day to ween off the 4mg from the previous night. One day of use doesn't really require any tapering.

Sorry to hear about your story baher, seizures are not very fun at all and I appreciate you sharing your experience in the hope of preventing someone else having a similar one.

I have been using xanax just like you do. I noticed since i've been taking them with different amount of alcohol, i can hardly feel the good old xanax effect when i take it by itself.

IME, when people stop taking xanax for a decent time, the tolerance goes back for like 2 more consumptions, but then builds up exetremly fast again.

yeah guys im not worried about withdrawals because i never use xanax consecutively. iv never used it 2 days in a row. iv used them 2 times in one week in relatively large doses and had no problems. for me 2 bars (4 mg) is an average dose to feel high. i suppose ill just wait a few days or a week before i eat anymore bars.

on a side note, i took my last bar at 3am last night (well this morning) and when i woke up at 11am i was still a little wobbly lol. and i was tired as hell all day so it was probably still in my system till about 4pm today.

like i said ill probly give it a week or so till i pop anymore bars. really my concern was whether or not i will still get as high off 2 bars in a few days as i did last night.

and i always try never to drink more than 5 beers when i take a xanax. and yes i do hide my stash of xanax from myself because i have munched and munched before not realizing how many i was eating.

at harth of the sun: i dont do xanax much but ever since my first experimentation with it i feel as if i have built a permanent tolerance to it. 1 bar wont really fuck me up. my first time doing xanax, 1 bar fucked me up. ever since then 1 bar only made me feel nice and not bar'd out. now i have to take 2.

That term 'bar'd' out is something I heard often. I have friends who are not prescribed the medication and are taking up to 14mgs a day. They talk to me about being 'bar'd' out and I tell them I never experienced the feeling. I think of any substance or medicine to be extremely dangerous if taken the wrong way or for the wrong purpose. I always thought to myself, "hey, well these idiots are taking 14mgs of Xanax a day. I am only taking 2mgs - 4mgs max a night." I thought I was in good shape and never felt "addicted" to the substance. From taking a bar or two a night for anxiety and stress(also giving me my appetite back) I thought I was being responsible by not abusing the substance. I was scared to be an 'addict' on any substance so that is when I just cold turkey stopped using bars at night. That is when I had my seizure, the second day of not taking any xanax. I wasn't able to sleep peacefully and get a good nights rest, but I dealt with it but having a seizure out of nowhere was a HUGE reality slap. Now I am license less, car less, and have medical/court fees up the ass do to me playing my own doctor. The best advice I can give to all is follow doctors orders and be honest with them. They are there to help you and the more you hide, or lie to them about your situations the more likelihood of harm to come crashing down on you.

taking a few days off is nice because it creates a better appreciation for the high. but benzos are not like acid or ecstasy where there effects are going to be significantly diminished by dosing two days in a row.

you say you've decided to wait a few days before doing it again. i think that is a good idea for multiple reasons. and since you have come to a decision, i am going to close this. PM me if you have any questions or objections.
