Hey guys,

I took 1.5mg etizolam about an hour ago (take it once or twice a week for insomnia)

I haven't drank any alcohol in over 12 months (so zero tolerance) but I was hoping to have a few drinks at a friends birthday tomorrow night.

I was wondering how long you should ideally wait to drink alcohol after taking etizolam, or benzos in general. Is 24 hours long enough? longer?

I looked up the half-life of Etiz, but I can't seem to find how long the metabolites are "active".

I've heard so many horror stories about combining CNS depressants and respiratory depression so I just want to be as safe as possible. DId a lot of Googling but can't seem to find a definitive answer.

24 hours is plenty. In reality there is little "mortal" danger in combining benzos and alcohol, you would have to use absurd amounts of both to approach a physically dangerous amount. You would probably black out well before this limit.

The real danger would be dangerous behavior and its addictiveness, which can be extreme, but it sounds like you're already aware of this. This combination generally leads to embarrassing behavior or ending the night in a jail cell.

As a rule of thumb I would wait at least 8 hours after benzos to drink alcohol, or longer if using certain long duration benzos, but etizolam is a short/medium duration.
