How long should it take to read Oedipus Rex?

I'm kind of rushed at the moment and am wondering how quickly I can expect to knock it out. It will be read beginning to end in one sitting. I have it in a text document so I can't really tell how long it is... Someone please help.

I'd be surprised if it took you more than two hours, three at the absolute max. If you're reading the original play by Sophocles, and its a translation, then it shouldn't be too much of a struggle.

If you're speed-reading, you can probably get the gist in under an hour. The story itself is pretty simplistic, I could summarize it 3-4 sentences. Also, check the Sparknotes, they are free online here: http://www.sparknotes.com/drama/oedipus/

I second that it's a very quick read, certainly more so than Shakespeare (and I love his work).

Just to update, I never ended up reading it. The summary was interesting though. Those damn meddling oracles, I swear...
