I've been on 2mg bupe for... five weeks now. How soon can I ask to increase the dose? I'm sure it differs from country to country, but what are the rules for increase in dosage? Logically, I can't see how you get to increase, as surely the point is to use bupe to stop the addiction, and therefore only go down in dose, but I know other's increase, and I'm starting to feel less "great" on bupe, after four hours I start to feel that awful sensation... normal. YUCK!
So, when can I ask my doc for going to 4mg without sounding like a pathetic junkie?
Namaste, y'all
Sooner the better actually!
That way the doctor thinks it hasn't held you (well it hasnt as you have said here) and will increase your dose.
You need to tell him that you still get cravings to use, whether that's true or not.
Don't tell him about how you think it's wearing off later in the day, he won't believe you, they are convinced you won't feel any different over night, because of bupes long half life.
Despite the long half life though, you still do have less in your system between doses, plasma concentrations are not stable, a dose increase this concentration then it slowly decreases until your next dose.
This makes you feel down within around 6 to 12 hours, until re dose.
The best option would be to redose on the same day at least once.
My doctor wouldn't do that for me though, so I started injecting.
But yeah, to get your dose upped, tell Em that you craving your opiate you were hooked on before sub. They will believe that you are not being held and suggest a dose increase.
Keep tellin them that until YOU are comfortable with the dose.
Me I stopped on 10 mg but it's different strokes for different folks with sub dosing, as with everything.
Sooner the better though, obviously.
