I couldn't see any announcements about this.

On previous occasions the site has only been black for one day?

Is there any way for members to change the settings back to how they were?

Go to Preferences, you can manually select it under 'Style'.
 
Or alternatively go to the bottom left of the screen where there's the little paint brush, and it should say BL Default or BL Light Classic or whatever, and you can change it to whatever style you like.

So sorry to hear about Cosmic Charlie. I never interacted with him as he mostly used different sections of Bluelight to me, but I've just caught up with what happened, and he was obviously very much beloved on here.
