I'm seriously asking people their opinions about how or maybe who it will be that will finally grow a pair and decriminalize pot on federal level? Obama lied (well as far as I've seen IMO he just wants to please people and knows nothing about how to be the president.....still. And it scares the hell out of me. I did happen to vote for him. Just my opinion. But I don't want this to get into a political war. Certainly people will have their sides, and if you do say its because of say a democrat or republican have the source to back it up.

This is really about what people think its gonna take. Do we need to write more letters....is there a way we can create/join some lobbyist group that is anti-drug war. I know all drugs wont be dropped, so I'm mainly focused on pot.

I ask you? What do we need to do? Also care to weigh in on the US incarceration issue. How long till they realize that inhumane living conditions due to overcrowding is ruining lives. AND THE KICKER IS THE WEIGHT OF A CRIMINAL RECORD. That's a life sentence for everyone. When is that gonna change?

I don't think anyone will 'grow a pair,' ever. Only when the vast majority of people want it will a politician do something, then they don't need balls. Bollocks to voting for politicians.

The majority does favor legalization, and has for quite some time. Our politicians are bought and paid for before they ever get into office. It will take a president who isn't in the pocket of big pharma to push for legalization, and that will never happen. No candidate can win without ending up in just about everyone's pocket.

I don't think this belongs in DiTM guys, check out the guidelines. Also the two issues overlap but they are both separate huge deals, seeing something happen that drastically affects both at the same time still seems a bit far-fetched. I don't think one person is going to be able to decriminalize pot on a federal level, it would have to first admit that it has medicinal benefits before it's drug classification could even change. Yeah decriminalization and making it available like booze would be awesome, don't get me wrong here, but I think it's still a long way off and if anything we'll see a medicinal type of bill before total federal decriminalization of pot, and I don't expect that in the near future either. It sucks that people get fucked over for drug charges, but decriminalizing even pot will change the entire legal system I feel as well as inmate population and while these are positives, they are drastic and do you really think the US government could handle that at the moment? Training people would cost a fortune, too.

Talking about this all the time isn't going to do anything. People are going to say over and over that they will send in letters but then they never do. Yes, get involved and see a change but I highly doubt cannabis will be decriminalized on a federal level anytime soon. Not even every state has medical marijuana yet nor has every state even decriminalized marijuana. So until we see more states doing that I think nothing will happen on the federal level anytime soon.
