Im going on 16 days clean off of heroin. And I don't feel any better? I am still extremely weak, I walk with a cane my legs are restless I don't sleep. Ive tried everything.... Kratom, melatonin, chamomile tea, etc etc. I tried getting some benzos but i sleep for like 2 hours, then wake back up in like a few hours. Please tell me this will not be months>!>!><! I am in college full time, I have bills (car payments, rent, etc), a kid i have to pick up and drop off from school!.

Help?!?!?!?! I feel hoplesss and empty. Empty as hell, like I need to be shooting up or cutting. Dont say get help, Ive seen 12 doctors in like 2 weeks, I have multiple appts set for a month from now.

At this point you should be feeling better. It sounds like you should be taking buprenorphine if you're really 16 clean and suffering that much.

Have you looked into buprenorphine/Suboxone/Subutex?
The drug you came off of, was it just one drug, that drug being heroin?
Are you still using any substances like cannabis or anything, whether recreationally or otherwise (including prescriptions and supplements)?

I'm in the same boat tweakette... I was smoking for about a year and a half and down $20k taking care of an addict while I supported my own habit, You made the right choice to stop for your child, KEEP PUSHING.

I'm on about 19 days clean from heroin and still really foggy and have sensitivity to cold air and don't want to be in social settings. I have to work 8 hour days, fight traffic, fight tickets, bills, taxes etc etc, but I don't have a child.

Let's beat this together tweakette ! I am using .5mg (out of a 8mg strip) of subs in the morning and at night to take the edge off to sleep and function. I caution you NOT to overuse the suboxone.. it will get you addicted over time.

Your emotional/mental withdrawals are definitely normal, but I've never heard of anyone having physical withdrawal from heroin for that long. The mental part is very tough, and there isn't a definite answer for how long that will last.

How is your diet? Are you staying hydrated? I hated it when people told me to eat and drink lots of water when I was in withdrawal, but it really does make a world of difference. Heroin addicts, and addicts in general, are known to be dehydrated and to have vitamin deficiencies. Your body is fighting hard to heal itself and it needs plenty of water and nutrients to do it.

You've already come so far in the recovery process! That's an amazing accomplishment! You can do this!!

It could have been a cut in the heroin. I could imagine there are some RC opiates with extremely bad withdrawals.

Whatever you do tweakette just don't use. The rest will come in time.

What do you do to make yourself feel better?

This is what I'm dealing with the physical fatigue... I wonder if the new tar out there is just cut with something that is strong and more lingering...

It wouldn't surprise me if it did have something in it. Tar is no joke. I went 4 days without powder back in the day but tar is what sent me to the methadone clinic. I couldn't even handle a day of withdrawal from tar so I have no idea How long those wd's last.

As for the lack of energy, I was never able to find a solution that didn't hurt me in the long run. It just took time.. :( somebody else might have a better option.

Actually, I think I remember hearing something about dealers adding fentanyl to their heroin. I don't know anything about fentanyl but if it's long acting, maybe it could extend wd's.

That's what Philip Hoffman ODed on... It is SUPER gnarly... Tar, could have it, it would be a very strategic move by the dealers to try and retain as much customers as possible.

withdrawals for me at the moment are similar to the first 3 days I quit just at about 10% - 20% intensity depending on my situation, at work vs relaxing in bed ( on day 20 now ), I can live but it's become irritating.

fentanyl withdrawals are quick and brutal due to its short half life. Bupe methadone and pod tea are the only opiates I know of with long lasting physical withdrawals. I agree with Lynn though make sure you are drinking fluids and eating right. You just put your body through hell a little lingering sickness can be expected but I don't think you should be needing a cane to walk. Keep seeing the doctors and let them rule out other causes for your sickness besides opiates.

Congratulations on staying clean for 20 days! For me, forcing myself to move around- even just walking- slowly increased my energy and strengthened my muscles. After going through intense withdrawal for 4-5 days, your body is going to be weak. Acute withdrawals are very hard on your body. I can't stress enough to make sure your eating nutritious foods and drinking tons of liquids. Your body needs fuel to heal.

Unfortunately that's part of the process. Suggest you try harder, I've quit methadone and I went to hell until I realized it was mostly up to me and of course my doctors. It makes you feel empty and sad but that eventually goes away and with time you'll get better.

The sooner you start doing exercises and finding something you would enjoy doing the fast is going to be the recovery.
Good luck!!

I've got 40 days off methadone and i still feel like no energy; hang in there man ; i think a lot of it is definitely just "time" i went through fucking hell and felt like abolute death the first 25 days; it was scary long; i don't know how i didn't kill myself;

Yeah, I’m just gonna update this post because of my horrific experience. I was on vivitrol implant and I was sick as a dog, horrifically sick and at 94 days I couldn’t take the sickness anymore and I relapsed. Come 2020, I got clean again and I’m at 30 days clean at the moment and still waking up with horrific body aches, can barely walk, barely eat, gastro issues. Everyone says I still shouldn’t be sick but I am sick as a dog. As I write this I’m about to LOSE my shit with these body aches another second!!!!
I don’t know if it’s vivitrol or what, but the shot is supposed to be 28 days and I’m at 26 and still feel like absolute hell on earth.
