Hi all, random question which has populated my head recently:

after you break up with a long term partner (over 6 months) how long do you feel is right to wait before you have sex with someone else?

I am more interested in womens answers as I am sure most men would answer "if the chance is there, i'll take it" (I am a man btw)

The day you break up with them, it's fine if you have sex with someone else.

For me, I was dating my ex for three years and then had sex with another guy one week later. It would have been sooner if we had seen each other sooner, that was the first time I saw him after breaking it off with my ex. We lived in different cities and I was staying at my parents at the time. Also an FYI that I'm still dating this guy almost four years later so it wasn't just a rebound either :P although I don't see anything wrong with a rebound.

i'd say to keep things civil (if necessary) wait till the next day. it looks shady (like you'd been planning on it) if you fucked someone right after the break up.

generally there's no need to keep things civil though. if you work with them (bad idea to date) or are in a tight knit social circle with them (again, don't date them) keep it civil.

Yep I agree with Illama the day you break up with them is fine.

For me I'd do the next day or so it's more of a confidence booster I guess since emotionally you are torn/sad just my preference
