i'm kinda disappointed right now...i just got back from a dental appointment getting 2 of my wisdom teeth extracted...when it was all over i was anticipating my dentist to slap me with a generous script for vicodin...instead he prescribed me to take some tylenol for the pain and amoxicilin for the swelling...i tried not to show any emotion but deep inside i was truly disappointed...i'm planning to wait a couple of days then call him up and tell him the tylenol isn't working and my mouth is killing me...but i'm predicting he'll stick me with another NSAID or some darvocet...any ideas, comments, suggestions?

Damn dude...is that all you get for wisdom teeth nowadays?
When I had mine pulled I got Percocet and 2 refills after I went through the first batch in 1.5 days.
Tell the guy you're hurting really bad, and Tylenol's not working, you can't sleep, etc..

Good luck - he sounds like the type who is scared of scripting narcotics, so no matter what you might not get more then codeine .. but you must strike while the iron is hot, so call his office first thing tomorrow and say the pain is just too much.. since you have physical justification for the dope, you could throw in something like "I have some Norco from when I had my apendix taken out a few months ago, I took the last pill a few hours ago and it worked.." do NOT say "Vicodin" because every high-school hemroid knows that VICODIN is fun, but Norco - what the hell is that? Vicoprofen is also acceptable.. if you can get mommy to call thats even better, but she has to know the song and dance..
Still, you might just be barking up the wrong tree.. maybe the street pharmacist is the better choice...

Where in the nursery rhyme does it say Humpty Dumpty was an egg?

tell you doctor you're allergic to codeine.
works around here

Whatever you do don't want any longer than 24hrs to make your call...
if you wait a couple of days the doctor will tell you the pain won't last much longer or he might wonder if there is an infection and ask to see you again.
If I were you I wouldn't mention any ***** by name...this always seems to make those people in the white lab coats suspicious, when you know something you shouldn't, especially if you're a young punk.
just tell you him you were up all night praying for a swift death and that you can feel the pain in your eyelids.

lol, bl censoring at work again...
***** is a five-letter abbreviation for narcotics, not a reference to that other term that makes everyone look over their shoulder.

amoxicillin to reduce swelling? maybe to reduce chances of infection. I think your dentist needs to look it up in his PDR if he thinks that's what it does.

well i know that amoxicilin is an antibiotic...the swelling could be due to inflamation from bacterial infection...he just prescribed me that as a precaution...

Ok Goodcorruption , My pop happens to be a dentist and from what I know he is generous in the pain category meaning if you tell him that it hurts he will more than likely try to make it feel better with something a little stronger. But like someonehas already mentioned do NOT wait longer than 2 days. The dentist might think ur pain either has already gone away and you are just drug hungry or the pain will soon be gone and theres no need for you to be prescribed anything. Hope this helped. If you have any other questions just post it and I could ask my pop. Later, Mikey
